Help! I need ideas for my lil' bro's Christmas/B-day gift!!!

I need help figuring out what to get my lil' brother for his Christmas/ birthday present. He is 16 yrs old, his B-day is Christmas Eve. He lives in Tennessee and I live in Florida. I do not see him much and he has been too busy lately to talk to his big sis. He was actually adopted by my dad and step mom right from the hospital when he was born. Anyways- let me tell you some things about him.
Age 16 turning 17 Dec 24th
He plays guitar in a band called Trigger Finger. They have a CD cut and it is rock music. He lives to play guitar!
He is tall and skinny and handsome like most guitar players.
He was into 80's heavy metal a while ago but I am not sure if he still is.
My problem is that I do not know anyone his age. The other problem is that he lives in Tennessee and things are a bit different there, if you know what I mean.
He is originally from Maryland. Let's see, that's about all I know actually.
I would like to get him some Prince sheet music to learn on his guitar but he does not really like Prince. If I found something that was not on the radio but has lots of awesome guitar solo's in it, maybe I could surprise him into liking Prince. Or at least have a new appreciation of him.
Anyways- I was going to call the post: Calling all 16 year old males but I was afraid that would cause some trouble.... giggle
I hope I can find someone out there that can help me find the perfect gift.
Thanks!

i'm of no help here - i have a 17-year-old niece, too, and i find it very hard to shop for her. Christopher's idea is good - who doesn't love cash or gift cards?!

Since he's into music, yeah what everybody else said..... or a concert ticket. Find out if a band he likes is playing close to where he lives and try to get front row smile

I know it's not music related, but this is just too cool for [i]any[i] 16 yr. old boy to pass up. I'm a 22 yr. old woman and I don't think I could pass this up lol

It's just so sleek and futuristic looking. You might have to wear your armour if you try to buy one of these though...people are literally fighting over the XBox360.

That new MP3 player that's shaped like a cube is kind of cool looking. It's so small that you can wear it as a necklace. I don't know how expensive it is though. It holds 500 songs.

Thanks for the ideas everyone!
It is really hard to buy for someone you rarely speak with. Last year I got him this nice silver watch that was manly that he could wear to his gigs. Didn't even get a thank you and I spoke with my dad a few days after Christmas. He put my brother on the phone and he never mentioned it. My dad thanked me.. Kind of funny since my dad never sends me anything for Christmas. It is a very difficult situation. My husband says I should not get him anything. My brother is very spoiled and probably has everything cool that I could buy him.
I don't know- I would feel bad if I didn't get him something...

What about giving him something he has to partake in and respond to?
Book a trip or day out that you can both go on and enjoy together sometime in the future. He would be faced with responding, thanking you and you would get to spend some proper time with him before you drift further apart.

Thanks-
I have driven up to see my dad & brother a few times already. usually my brother sleeps all day when I am there then goes out at night and I never see him. They just went on vacation on a criuse this summer and flew into an airport 2 hrs from my house and did not call. So, I am not going to take days off unpaid to drive 12 hrs to see them anymore after that. I just would like to send him a little something so he knows his big sis is thinking of him.
