What Other Book

has inspired so many people killing others?

that's really not fair. there are plenty of good things that come from religion. i volunteer with habitat for humanity (a christian-based organization which builds homes for poor people), my church is constantly sending people to developing nations to build homes, teach kids to read, assist medically, and for many other reasons. they don't ask that anyone convert to christianity, they don't limit their help to christians. they simply believe in God's word to help others. some of the first groups in new orleans after hurricane katrina, and some of the first groups to go to thailand for the tsunami recovery, were religious groups. tons of homeless shelters throughout every major city in the states are religiously affiliated.

bad things certainly have come from religious beliefs but it's incredibly ignorant to spin it as though ONLY bad things come from religion.

I'm reading articles about the genocide going on in Darfur (and writing letters to my Member of Parliament asking what will be done about this atrocity). I would suggest you contact your government and ask the same question.

The good things are often on a personal basis and not really visible in all the global hoopla the 'good' book has created.

I am all for the strength people derive from the book. I love and respect people who use it for good and help out themselves and others.

New Rules-Bill Maher. I love this book and this man.
When Will Jesus Bring The Porkchops-George Carlin. He is one seriously twisted dude. lol
The Book On The Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are-Alan Watts. This book has changed me forever.
How To Read and Why-Harold Bloom. Beautiful stuff.
The Proud Highway-Hunter S. Thompson. Haven't read enough to comment on it yet.
America The Book-Jon Stewart. Did not grab me at all. Tried to be funny but wasn't. Not to me anyway.

That's a great book. I love the charts and the way the kid thinks.

I'm reading Jack Faust by Michael Swanwick, a retelling of Dr. Faustus, where a guy in the 1600's is given limitless knowledge by "Mephistopholes" in an attempt to destroy humanity. He begins introducing new technology hundres of years ahead of time.

I liked the first half a lot, but I'm losing interest.

I just read The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. It's a great collection of related short stories. A very creative mind.

I felt the last one didn't have much of a story, it was more of a lead-up to the next book. But I enjoyed it the most from a writing standpoint.
