How come so many superheroines wear strapless tops? Wonder Woman would have given every bad guy on earth an eyeful by now (and most of the Justice League). What woman with sense would put on a bustier to wrestle, and do athletic stuff?

Being that they did the starwars movies out of order.

If you try to watch the first 3 before the second 3, the second 3 don't look so go any more.

With such far reaching special effects as were around for the first 3, but were not around for the second 3, shouldn't they somehow redo : NEW HOPE, THE EMPIRE STIKES BACK and RETURN of the JEDI?

Wonder Woman is near-invulnerable, so she doesn't need the protection of clothing. She goes for comfort and manueverability.

Her island nation is comprised of women who subscribe to the ancient Greeks ideals of modesty, so she really probably doesn't care if any of the heroes or villians get an eyeful. If you think about it, it probably gives her an advantage: She's in the middle of fighting some dude, her tit pops out, and in the moment it takes for the dude to stop and oogle her, she cleans his clock!

I love it! It was a shocking ending to issue 1, and it looks like he is shaping up to be an unintentional villian to the series as of issue 2! This alone has all sorts of interesting possibilities.

I love that DC is really creating a cohesive universe where continuity is important. They aren't slaves to it, but it is respected. The biggest beef I have with Marvel right now is their utter lack of continuity

JIM LEE or ALEX ROSS?... lol

Well, I love both as artists, but I definitely prefer Ross's stuff. That having been said, I think Ross tends to have a bit of a bloated ego, and he can come across as a giant ass. I will go with Lee, just because he seems like such a nice guy. I would WANT him to win!

Here's a couple of pieces they did together! Ross painted over Lee's pencils:

No, they shouldn't redo them. In my opinion, the grungier looking ships and what-not in the orginal trilogy really work, compared with the CGI generated ones in the prequels. The Empire has really drained the life and resources out of the galaxy by the time of the OT, and the "used" look of everything really reflects that decay. The slicker look of the ships in the PT is a nice contrast, showing how the whole galaxy goes into decline after Palpatine seizes power.

I'm glad that the ICONS (SUPES, BATS, WONDERS) r all very central to the story - more so I think than they were in the original CRISIS (especially BRUCE and DIANA).

WONDER WOMAN has really stepped up to the plate with this one and the tension between the 3 is the centre of THE CRISIS to say the least.

Bringing back SUPERMAN (from EARTH 2) into the spotlight just takes it to anutha level.

It's a dark time and when u step back and look at all that's happened in the DCU since "CRISIS on INFINITE EARTHS" - the "chosen" Earth is really starting to look like an "EVIL EARTH" almost like the kids running amuck in "KINGDOM COME".

Anyway, I could go on and on, but I'm also loving it, and can't wait for the next installment.

This will undoubtedly make handsome HARDCOVER and SOFTCOVER editions.

Peace,

Ronster.

BTW - that pic was in SAN DIEGO earlier this year, I plan 2 go back in 2007.

Totally agree! I'm fascinated, as it could really go in so many different directions. I actually feel that this story is going to matter, and have long-felt repercussions in the DCU, which I really haven't felt about one of these crossover maxi-series since the original Crisis.

The tension between the big three is great. It has added this depth to their relationships that plays very honestly. The scene where Batman tells Superman that he hasn't mattered to anyone since he died was just incredible. It was honest, and also worked on the higher level of comicdom in general. Seeing Clark's reaction, like he just got kicked in the 'nads, was truly an amazing moment of comic history.

Cool about ComicCon. I would LOVE to go to one of these, but San Diego is a looooong way away. Wizard has a big con in Dallas every November, but it is just too far to travel just before the holidays. Houston hasn't had a good con of ANY kind in ages.

Well, you have a director who is obviously out of touch with the spiritual world, trying to interpret those things on a level he just cannot understand. It would be like some white kid from the suburbs trying to direct a movie about growing up in the projects. He may have seen a couple episodes of Good Times, but that hardly would make him qualified.

Maybe that film was him trying to find that, but he obviously has a long way to go.

Well, I hadn't read that Spidey issue yet, so thanks for spoiling that! As for the Ultimate Wovlie vs Hulk thing, I think it's pretty stupid. How the hell is the Hulk going to rip adamantium in half? How the hell is Wolvie's healing factor going to knit both sides back together? Will he just grow a new waiste and legs, or will both sides regenerate to create two Wolverines? (if they do that last one I will wretch).

You really shouldn't cuss in front of your dad as well. wink

Officially, Lucas is saying that he isn't doing anymore. The film series is complete, and he has no intention of doing 7, 8 and 9. Furthermore, he feels these are his babies, so he doesn't want anyone else doing them. Of course, we all know he originally intended to do a trilogy of trilogies, with each focusing on a different generation, but it seems he has abandonded that idea.

Still, rumours abound. There has been talk that he is going to allow a series of novels to be written that would basically be the story idea he had for the final trilogy (the rumour further asserts that everything that has happened in the New Jedi Order books was to bring the expanded universe in line with Lucas's final story).

Another rumour is that the whole "live action TV show" thing is actually a cover for the final trilogy being made, and that Lucas plans to do like Lord of the Rings and film the movies all at the same time. All of this is just pure fan speculation, and should be taken with an entire shaker of salt. Some of these rumours pan out, and some wind up being horseshit. Still, one or two have actually come from somewhat reputable sources, so you never know.

Hey, doc. Check it out. Superman's from Krypton, where they worship science. But whenever Homes gets upset, he's like "Great Rao!" or "Oh my fuckin Rao!" This leads me to believe that the Kryptonian god of science is named Rao.

Now, peep. In Astonishing X-Men and the new X film, there is a scientist named Dr. Kavita Rao who "invents" the cure to the x-factor called Hope.

Is there a chance Dr. Rao was meant to be Krypton's savior, but born in the wrong continuity after the Marvel/DC mashup?

Ahh, good one! To me, they are obviously aspects of the same thing, just viewed from a different cultural perspective. Of course, the Jedi and the Bene Gesserit both have very different philosophies, so the use of this power is very different.

This mystical energy appears throughout myths and stories, as far back as recorded history. Oftentimes, it takes on different forms, but there are always commonalities. I don't think that it is, necessarily, God per se, but rather the life force of all living things (you could call it "the breath of God"). The Force in Star Wars seems to have a dual nature, but I believe that this is a reflection of its user, not itself. The "Dark Side" is only negatively "charged" if it is being used by someone with evil intentions. So, perhaps, this life force is simply what it is, primal and raw. It isn't evil, unless the person using it is evil.

Both Star Wars and Dune show their perspective takes on the mystical energy to be a tool used by the religious orders. In both cases though, there is a sense that they are the tip of the iceberg. In SW books, there is talk of "The Living Force" (which is the energy being manipulated by the Jedi and the Sith) and "The Greater Force" or "Universal Force" (which is a more powerful consciousness that seems to have a will that guides the Jedi. This is the closest approximation of God in SW lore). The Living Force stems from the Greater Force, but doesn't seem to have the will or conciousness of the more universal energy.

While I'm rusty on my Dune lore, I seem to remember the Bene Gesserit similarly manipulating "The Voice" to more corporeal matters, while still focusing on a greater force beyond. There seems to be a God or will beyond the aspect of the Voice that they use, from which the Voice seems to flow.

hmmm Good question regarding Rao, although I do know that the Kryptonian red sun was called Rao. More than likely, Whedon was just paying homage.

I prefer the straight, Frank Miller mini-series style blades:

I was quite happy when the film version basically used this design. In fact, I really love the way Wolvie's claws look in the X-Men films:
