Do you live near your parents? They live uptown (right near Prince's Toronto spread), I live downtown. It's about a 20-minute drive by highway.

How often do you see them? I work with my father and I see my mother pretty much every week.

How well do you get along with them? Very well.

My Dad is old and getting senile and I think has dementia. He's highly critical and I don't appreciate it. My Mom is someone I've not ever really gotten along with due to her childishness.

Said too much?

Probably. biggrin

You can't say too much especially when it comes to issue that define you. Didn't you read what I posted about on here? Maybe you should scroll back some and check it out. wink

I'm at an age where I'm tired of my parents telling me what's best for me, y'know?

sad oh god, she is lucky to have you. That is so awful. But at least she did it, she moved out.
My mum puts up with my dad, she just takes it. When they visit us, she is often not allowed to talk at the dinner table eek he tells her to shut up and stop interrupting. And it is HIM that should shut up! He monologues about things he (and nobody else) is interested in for 20 minutes at a time and expects our full attention even though we have 3 screaming children in the background mad

sad I never thought my mum would be strong enough to leave..she had put up with it for so long..who knows one day ur mum might surprise u and tell him to shut up *smile* hug ....and I am very lucky to have my mum too....she is a second mother to my kids..my confident and friend..she loves me even when I don't love myself mushy thank god for mums smile

your Mum is an amazing woman sweetie nod please say hi to her from me ...and HUGE BIG HUGS all 'round hug I love you xx

Judging that we share the same birth year, I would say you are far past that age. You have even past the age where it's cool to tell them to shut up, stick it up their ass, and if they want a relationship with you, they will learn to keep their false hopes and illusionary idealisms to themself.

Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Very complicated...past that age yes. They don't seem to accept that part. confused

i live about an hour and 45 away from where i grew up... there are some times when i am at home with them a lot and then i go through spells where i don't go home for weeks. they just came up and spent the night in my new house last week so that was good. i am very aware of their age and the fact that i could loose them at any time.

we function on a kind of "need to know" basis. we get along well but i probably tell my aunt more personal things than i do my parents. they started out on their three day drive to arizona yesterday and there were storms in the forecast. i worry and don't get to see them for five months but i know that they enjoy themselves so much so it's worth it.

as for overbearing fathers and submissive mothers... yes, my father can be an ass - and my mother definately tries to avoid confrontation. this past while was the first time i told my father that he was being a jerk and walked away.
thank heavens for generations building on the faults of the previous ones

Do you live near your parents? It's a good two + hours away.

How often do you see them? Not as often as I wish. I wish I could see my dad again. It's been almost 7 and a half years. sad

How well do you get along with them? I always got along with them once I moved away to go to college.

Do you live near your parents? While in college, I moved back home to be with my mom after my father passed away four years ago...and I commuted.

How often do you see them? I see my mom everyday, and in my book, that's too damn often.

How well do you get along with them? It's average. Sometimes she bitches about little things that mean nothing to me, sometimes i argue back, sometimes i just ignore her...but we are excellent shopping partners though.

While i'm at home, i'm saving up money so that i can be able to live on my own, without a roommate and all.

Do you live near your parents? No, I live 2500 miles away from my Mom and about 3000 away from dear ol' Dad.

How often do you see them? I see my Mom about once a year and My Dad about once every 2 years.

How well do you get along with them? My Mom is 1 of my closest friends, she understands and accepts everything about me. My Father has taken little more than a passing interest in me once I passed age 10. He could tell U nearly nothing about me.

Every other weekend me and my brother with wives go and play texas hold'em poker with our mom. He and I take every other week to take her food shopping. I stop by for a smoke or to see if she needs anything a couple of times a week because she is at a point between where I live and where I am going.
