WAL-MART: THE HIGH COST OF LOW PRICE

[QUOTE=MONEYGOD]http://www.WALMARTMOVIE.COM/

WAL-MART: THE HIGH COST OF LOW PRICE is a feature length documentary that uncovers a retail giant's assault on families and American values.

The film dives into the deeply personal stories and everyday lives of families and communities struggling to fight a goliath. A working mother is forced to turn to public assistance to provide healthcare for her two small children. A Missouri family loses its business after Wal-Mart is given over $2 million to open its doors down the road. A mayor struggles to equip his first responders after Wal-Mart pulls out and relocates just outside the city limits. A community in California unites, takes on the giant, and wins!

Everyone has seen Wal-Mart's lavish television commercials, but have you ever wondered why Wal-Mart spends so much money trying to convince you it cares about your family, your community, and even its own employees? What is it hiding?

I find that people waste their time on things like this.

Before Wal-Mart most people made shit money.

After Wal-Mart most people were still making shit money, but at least they could buy some needed things.

With Poverty on the rise it's nice to have someone driving down the price of something.

This is comming from a man who gave up shopping at walmart a year ago because I now have money enough to get it else where and don't mind paying extra for higher quality goods and quite shopping. The only problem with walmart is the shoppers, maybe walmart needs to put a gym in the stores and take out McDonalds.

Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

disbelief I don't even know what to say to that other than I assume you've been living under a rock for the past 15-20 years. Did you read any of the facts and figures at the top of the thread ? Whether you believe them or not is your choice, but Walmart have been doing this shit for years, breaking every law they can and taking away every employee benefit they can get away with. It's well known. Books have been written about it. Although in a way you are right - the really sad thing is that they have any shoppers at all, I really have no idea why anybody would buy their cheap nasty crap.

To give you an idea of the strength of feeling about Walmart - four supermarket chains have recently applied to build stores in or near my home town - Lidl, Aldi, Asda, and Tesco. All four were expected to quickly receive the necessary approval, but one of them is the subject of much protest and thousands of people have already signed a petition to keep them out.

Guess which one ?

Asda.

Want to know why ?

Because Walmart own them.

Walmart is not just another average employer, if you think they are you're deluding yourself. Their record speaks for itself.

Do you realize how snobby that sounds?

The fact is that if you buy stuff on sale, you'd never think Wal-Mart was that great. For the most part, they sell junk. The fact that they bill themselves as so Christian by not selling certain CDs, books and movies is unsetlling is just a slight factor for me. The big one is what they are doing to communities. If that doesn't affect your shopping habits, than maybe you need to see this movie. I can't wait for it. I recently saw a rather fair and balanced special on Wal-Mart and hearing some of their practices disgusted me. They also tried to show the postive side but it did little to affect me.

walmart has nothing to do with that. Don't like them don't use them. Don't sit around like a bunch of babies whinning. Wal-Mart isn't a whipping boy or escape goat for the worlds ills. Truth be told, if We made everything here in america, few would be able to buy the items.

This is been years in the making, and walmart isn't to blame.

Walmart is a huge part of this. Thay are big enough that they are shifting the world economy, and they affect me if I choose to shop there or not

Globialization and the shifting of the world economy has nothing to do with walmart. Oh Please, if walmart didn't exist then who would be to BLAME for this? It is been going on for many years. Wal-Mart is just taking advantage of something that has been in the works for Thousands of years.
