I sometimes brag. Or, as I like to see it, "maintain an openness about my advantages".

Since I maintain the same openness about my disadvantages, I figured it's even steven.

What do you think about bragging? Is it always equally annoying or is it sometimes acceptable? If so, when? How often do you brag? Quite often, very often or saintsation-often?

Be honest.

Now, I don't believe in bragging, either. But I don't think stating truths about your transcendence is bragging.

Bragging is when you're trying to impress someone. YOu say things purely for effect.

I never do this and detest those who do. I've had men brag about their cars or jobs around me thinking I'd swoon ..

One guy pointed out his SUV behind me and expected me to turn around in awe. I kept looking straight head.


Shallow people (i.e. braggers) need the validations of others. I do not.

Do you think speaking highly of oneself is even more acceptable if one also admits to one's flaws, or doesn't it change things? I love people who just tell it straight. I prefer to be around them than any other.

I'm like this: open about superlatives and flaws.

I do this at work too. If my supervisor and I discuss some project I did. I'm cool saying 'that was fabulous' or 'no this could have been better.'

Likewise, I don't accept empty praise. You know how people compliment to make you feel better. I hate that as much as bragging. They're really two sides of the same defect: falsity.

If something sucks it sucks and if its great, it's great.

Just be honest and forthright.
