Got myself a mohawk

So I did two things tonight. The second was going to see Walk the Line. Excellent movie -everyone needs to go see it. And Joaquin Phoenix made Johnny Cash kinda hot. Shh! Don't tell. boxed

The first was getting a haircut courtesy of my boyfriend before we went out. I'd been bored with my hair for a while now because the cut was just way too conservative and plain. Dave busted out the electric shaver and 10 minutes later, voila! One mohawk. biggrin

After:

Please excuse the shittiness of my cam. I desperately need a new one.

Hi Nat. wave

I've been lazy about pictures, I know. Seeing as I've been a member for nearly 3 years and these are the first I've put up of myself. One of these days I'll get around to scanning some decent ones and posting them.

I would but I've got a month left at Sears and they've got a strict "no unnatural hair colours" policy in the dress code. I'm kind of wondering how well the cut itself is going to fly. lol Sears isn't exactly a liberal company.

I don't see how green or pink is any more unnatural than bottle blonde....

I worked in a VERY prestigious store a few years ago and it was like being back in school..

we could only wear hair accessories that were colcour coordinated with the uniform.. Navy or Green..

Black, Brown and other colours were NOT allowed.. How crap! confused

That's happened to me too. Last time I went in for a pro dye job I wanted blue and orange, but ended up with blue and something that looked pretty close to my natural colour. Needless to say I haven't gone back to that stylist. They won't do what I'm willing to pay for, they don't get a return customer.

I may need to invest in hat though. There's a downside to having a 'hawk in the middle of winter...lol

Understood, butthe salon I go to, I have been going for years.. maybe 10 or 11 years.. and they DO experiment on me alot.. I feel maybe the colour I wanted they felt wouldnt trun out right for my skin colouring.. but I love it anyway.. yay!

Ew. Lame.

Sears overall is surprisingly lax about dress code, all things considered. But not being a fan of the concept to begin with I've had a hard time adjusting even to the "no jeans, no weird hair colours" policy.

I've had jobs with crazy strict dress codes too. No fun. And it doesn't make any sense IMO. Does an employee's appearance affect their performance? Does pink hair impede one's ability to do their job properly and efficiently? No. Don't get me wrong, I agree with dress codes to a point -no revealing clothing or offensive slogans on t-shirts, for example. But much more than that is taking it too far, IMO.

It all depends on the work environment. Some employers just like to have rules for the sake of it.
