As a matter of fact, I had a fabulous time with my family, playing with my nieces and nephews and sharing a wonderful meal. Plenty to be thankful for. Holidays are about what you make them be about. Sure, there's plenty in this country's past (and present for that matter) to be ashamed of, but setting aside a day a year to recognize how much we have and show gratitude for that is not one of them.

Why not show gratitude all year long? You don't need to set aside a special day for it.

true--plus the entire idea/"history" behind thanxgiving always rubs me the wrong way as it is. my holiday was absolute crap.

nod

I don't have a problem with Canadian Thanskgiving. That day's ties are to the European harvest festivals, and have nothing to do with any myth about togetherness and racial harmony or whatever story it is.

Americans like to tell us we've got the day all wrong, but I'd say it's the version that's celebrated on your side of the border that's wrong.

I think many people do. smile
I just like the idea that an entire nation is doing it all together, all at the same time.

Aside from those that take exception to the origins of the day, and those that don't celebrate any holidays. razz

We didn't have as many people this year at dinner so there's so much stuff left over, especially desserts. We were leaving with whole pies, containers of cookies, and almost a whole cake. I'm about to go into a sugar shock lol I love making sandwiches with left over turkey and cranberry sauce....fried turkey drool No offense to the people who couldn't make it this year, but I kinda like it when it's not as crowded. I feel a little claustrophbic when it's that many people. Overall it was a good Thanksgiving smile

Stuffing yourselves with more food than some people get in a month as a way to celebrate cultural genocide. Hope y'all had fun. sigh

DAH! it's thanksgiving, time for giving thanks for the bounty.

You say miserable and whiny, I say realistic.

You say groovy fun holiday, I say pointless gluttony in the name of murder.
