What am I to do?

When I came back home late yesterday-evening, a lady was standing in front of my door, holding the cutest little kitten, about 3 months old. She told me this cat had been hanging in the street for three days, meowing her heart out.

So sigh I took her in my apartment and started to make posters 'Cat found...' and hang them up in the shops in the neighbourhood. No one knows where this kitten comes from, it seems like no one is missing him... bawl

The problem is my apartment is too tiny and my cat Lilith is very mad They have been fighting all night. This morning I put him outside but three hours later he was still there. So he's back now and he's just lovely, a curious and sweet grey tiger-cat with very tiny stripes, a slim body and a hamster's face. mushy

But my cat is still mad They've been fighting over everything. I couldn't barely sleep. Now they're both sleeping, first time they are both quiet in 15 hours.

sad mushy What to do? One more day I will be too much in love.

Your older cat might take a while to get used to the kitten (and stop being jealous !) ..maybe give it another few days .

I don't have a camera. Maybe it's cuter 'cause it's smaller, but Lilith is the beauty-queen. A very good friend just came over who wanted a cat.

But he said 'naaah, I want a female cat with long hair, like Lilith'.

sad Discrimination.

I hate the racist tension in my house between the long-haired and short-haired race.

lol The difference in age isn't that big, Lilith is one year and a half.

And the long hair is a bit shorter. She ripped my Prince-poster and that was her punishment. razz

when we got my boy kitty my older female was Furious pissed, she hated him until the day she died. They worked it out though, she set down the rules and he followed them.

She will get over it eventually, although she may start to pee in places showing her displeasure, no no no! reminder her that you are really the boss. Just remember to give her love and attention on the same level as before. She is the queen of the house so he will just have to fit in. He will be fine.

sounds like he's gonna be bigger than her so you want her to establish dominance now while he's small so he won't kick her ass later lol

bawl But my apartment is too tiny for two cats. So I need another option. My father says he wants to take a little one, but because he goes on a holiday and is celebrating hs 60th birthday (with lots of people) it has to wait two weeks. But I'm afraid my cat will run away.

That's the thing, in a very innocent way he's annoying the hell out of her. I gave them food, and he took it, she stood in the corner watching. When I gave them two plates, in different corners, he started walking back forth transporting the food from her plate to his. falloff He's really at ease, he's sleeping now, she's watching.

He's establishing dominance!!

that's not innocent, he's a confident dominant male kitty. They will have to work it out just make sure no one gets the shorter end of the stick--food hording etc..you may have to feed them separately and buy another litter box. My female kitty would pee in his food ( she was a real bitch, but she was my baby sad) and growl at him when he tried to eat hers. If he used her litter box she'd pee on his pillow, so I had to put her things in a totally different area and leave his more accessible so he could get to them.

lol See, this is funny to read, but sad to watch. I really don't want to go through this. The queen can stay the queen. But I can't just put him out on the street. It's freezing.

You could probably find plenty of articles on Google on how to introduce a new pet to an old one. Your old cat will get used to the new cat, if you (re)introduce the new one slowly.

Don't get rid of either one of them; it would be cruel to give up your old cat now, and if you think you really can't take care of both of them, try harder to find the new kitty a home. If you can't, there are probably many no-kill adoption agencies in your community that will take the kitty in and find it a new home for you.

Here's one article: http://www.wistv.com/Glob...p?S=478071

You've got a kind heart MarieLouise.

I think you either have to give it another couple of days to see whether the kitties will calm down or take the kitten to an animal shelter where it may have a chance of finding a new family, like scandalouslife said.

Thanks for your kind remark! I especially have a very weak spot for cats.

The animal-shelter... another problem. One has closed down and the other one said they would probably have to kill him 'cause there are too many cats.

she will be fine, they will work it out between them. Just make sure you give her love and attention at the same level as before so the transition will be a little easier.
