freaky coincidences!

Today I went to my friend's baby's christening. I was talking to some women had met before at this same friend's birthing ceremony.

It turns out one of them went to high school with my husband's sister eek

Then I saw this guy who looked familiar, and it was this guy who was in my class in every year of high school omg and I asked what was he doing there and se said he was doing the ceremony!

He hands his baby to one of the women I was talking to and this woman I knew from before, was his wife omfg

nutty

This wouldn't be so strange if it was a small town, but I was an hour away from home today, and 4 hours away from where I went to high school. disbelief

that isn't all that far away from your hometown. It isn't that uncommon. People move, but most don't move very far. I think Bruce Springstine sang it best in "glorydays".
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Or maybe, the best song about it is: It's a small world after all.

The Universe is crazy, man.

I have two coincidences to share. WARNING: They contain TMI, are very personal and might make you feel uncomfortable.

1. When I was 12 I had an elicit affair with a fellow 18 year old Prince fan who introduced me to sex. I was too young to have sex, really didn't want to, and really it was sort of acquaintance rape. It caused me great emotional trauma (I know people have sex at young ages all the time but I have a really sensitive spirit)

Anyway, years later this would lead to years of manic depression for me which he knew about and caused him to kill himself. Meanwhile, my mom joins a huge church on the outskirts of our city and unbeknownst to her she becomes good friends with this guy's mom (in a church of more than 2000 people!). My mom knows her friend has a son who committed suicide but doesn't know his connection to me. She does know something sexual happened to me as a child and that it caused me to be depressed for a spell but doesn't know what happened. His mom, who is very sweet to me, doesn't know the background either. I'd never ruin her memories of her son.

I will NEVER tell her or my mom.. I think the Universe was trying to mend things. I'm still in awe of this coincidence.

What he did to me caused some irreparable damage to my soul, but if our parents can be loving, Christian friends then that soothes my heart.

2. As you might have heard from other threads I've whined on, I lost the love of my life in college to another woman and I still long for him to this day because I can't duplicate our chemistry with anyone else. Anyway, he has a VERY unique name, especially for a man. So, on my job, a client calls me and he has the same first name. I was a bit startled, but OK, it's possible.

I needed to pick up some documents from this man, and since he's calling from work, he tells me to get the documents from his wife. I said 'Ok. What is her name?' And he replies 'The same as yours.' eek

So, this guy with the unique name of the love of my life is married to someone with my name. At first I thought, the Universe is so cruel and must be taunting me and rubbing a knife in an old wound. But then, I thought ...what if the Universe is trying to spur me to contact the man I loved.

But I've tried to interpret the Universe's signs in the past and have gotten hurt.

So, I just think Universe is playing games for kicks. neutral

did you learn anything from them or find out some information to a question you'd been asking yourself or someone else?

I don't believe in coincidences... everything happens for a reason just sometimes we miss the clues nod

wow! I agree w/Natisse. There was probably a reason. But, it may have been something that another person got from the "coincidence." Sometimes just being in the same room with people can start a chain of events that changes someones life! Something that happened or was said that day may come to you days or years from now. God/the universe is awesome!

nod there will probably be more from this later I'm sure.

The funny thing is, I nearly didn't even go. It is a long drive to my friend's house, and I was running so late I was going to miss the ceremony altogether, so I took all the stuff out of the car, unstrapped baby Max and went back inside the house. Then I thought to myself, no I HAVE to do this!
I got there, and the ceremony had been delayed by an hour and a half and I didn't miss a thing!!!
I am so glad I went, it was a fun day, my friend rang me at 8am today to thank me so much for making the effort to come all that way, she really appreciated it. I think it meant a lot to her, she is one of my best friends, but distance and our 6 children make it hard to catch up.

Had to attend a funeral one and a half week ago. Friend of mine's buddy died very young. So I went along for comfort.

We ended up at the SAME PLACE where we held my mother's funeral two years ago... I was totally out of it and shocked... so weird. It felt like i was thrown back two years when it comes to hurt, emotion and pain.
