Blue Collar/White Collar?

Are you a blue collar worker or white collar worker? Why are in your chosen profession or career? What motivated you to become this type of worker or what did not motivate you in this regard?

Me, I am a white collar worker because I have enough education to warrant not working in the blue collar world. We need both for our existences here, but my choice is White Collar.

Blue collar for now. Why? Because I'm broke, 20 years old and the education I have won't get me a proper job.

Things'll change, but not until I can figure out a decent paying career that looks at least mildly interesting. So far no luck. sad

thumbs up!

I am with you on that, a nice white with blue stripes, or a blue check.

lol

I like to think I work in a field that doesn't give a shit. Theoretically I suppose I am from a blue-collar background.

White collar....it's over-rated in some respects, but on payday, I remember why I put up with it....wink

I do have blue collar talents though. Like CSq said, it's volatile, so you never know when you have to fall back on something totally different.

I am a blue-collar worker in a white-collar building. I work for a company that has several facets: Property Managment, Brokerage, Leasing, Architecture, and Construction. I work for in the Construction department. We are on the bottom floor of the coroporate office and we eat donuts and wear cotton and denim. Folks on the second and third floors wear suits and eat things like protein shakes and low carb salads for lunch. But that's what makes this country great, isn't it?!

What are the definitions of blue collar and white collar again?
Does it have to do w/education or more like manual labor vs. desk job?

I think it's the latter, but it seems to me that it's only those who consider themselves to be white collar workers that use these expressions. It makes them feel more important.

I love a mix. That's one of the reasons why I've been attratced to the film industry. As a filmmaker you might be carrying boxes one day and writing scenes the next. Too one-sided work is boring.

White collar. Technology based and close to my true love...music.
Education helped initially, but because technology is constantly progressing, it requires self motivation to stay current.
