The person that always says this too you is always the one that ends up doing EXACTLY that! HOW! fucked up.

I always throw in the added deception/insult of "becuase I love you."

As for the rest, it's a silly promise to make. No one can say they'll never hurt anyone. Intentional or not, people get hurt in life. It's unavoidable.

When people say "trust me", "honestly? after being asked a question, "to tell the truth", etc. I usually automatically distrust them. If you're being honest, you don't need to put those words into whatever it is you're saying.
There was a study done on this several years ago on that.
