Superman Returns official website

I don't know if anyone posted the official website's address yet, but here it is:

http://supermanreturns.com/

A no-brainer, huh? razz

The teaser trailer is on there, too. I got the chills when John Williams' score came up. If they don't use it in the final film, I'll be very disappointed. Brando's voice (either that, or someone who sounds a hell of a lot like him) gave me chills over the chills I already had!

The next big movie to wait for! superman

I'm kinda hoping they'll have a dedication to Christopher Reeve at the start of the movie. rose

omg They're using the same John Williams theme song. My most favorite theme song ever. headbang This Sup is not quite as handsome as my old crush Christopher Reeve was, but it looks like he's going to be able to pull it off.

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor? woot!

That picture of him on the site reminds me of Gene Hackman's Luthor. biggrin

I saw the teaser trailer on Friday before Harry Potter and I thought it ROCKED! It was a perfect teaser. Just enough to remind me it is coming and get me excited. But not so much that I will be sick of the promotion as it goes on and on and on...

I'm totally confused.

Is this a remake/retelling of Superman I, or is it essentially Superman 5?
Or is it a completely different storyline like the new Batman was?

From the website:
Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure Superman Returns, a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world's most beloved superheroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.

So I kinda take it that the beginning of the film is going to revisit his origins and go from there.

Fortunately, we had Superman on the case to bring us back that website!

I saw the trailer on Friday, in front of Harry Potter. I had seen it the night before on Smallville, but until I saw it on the big screen I wasn't blown away. The trailer looks fantastic!

Apparently, the first part of the film will briefly recap his origin, but won't go into too much detail. The film is being structured in such a way that either the Reeve films or Smallville could be the backstory (this current season of Smallville is deliberately setting up story points that bring it closer to the first two Reeve movies). It is DEFINITELY not a remake of the original. Singer has stated that he thinks the origin has been done to death, and that he just wants to recap it in order to bring people up to speed who may not be familiar with it.

No. Hatcher is quite successful on Desperate Housewives, and Dean Cain off doing some Ripley's Believe it or Not show now. As much as I enjoyed the two of them, by the time that show was in its third season it was HORRIBLE.

I thought the first couple of episodes from season 3 were fine but the clone storyline sucked. Never really recovered from it, although I loved them so much back then, I surely didn't care!

And of course I know that they won't be in it, I really cannot see Dean Cain starring in a big movie production at all. Teri's still fine as hell in DH!

The Jack Black movie got canned after the shitstorm that was generated on the internet about it. WB now denies that they ever had greenlit it, even though it is pretty well known that the movie was on their production schedule for 2006 at one point.

That is just one of the monologues from one of my favorite films.... Superman the movie. I have serious doubts about Brian Singer being able to tell a story as well written and emotional as that first superman film.

I wish this would come out on dvd unaltered with its original sound effects track.

Well, I think Singer is just trying to take a page from Donner, rather than trying to top him.

Donner is involved in the new film as executive producer, by the way, and Singer has had him participating in much of the creative process, so it's all good! smile

I'm confused about that too. lol.

This movie is supposed to pick up after Superman II. As if III and IV never existed.

With everything SHH.com has posted, and all of Bryan's video blogs... I'm not impressed yet.

Actually, I and II form the history that is referred to in the new film. It's not that III and IV never existed, just that they won't be referred to. The history in this film will be vague, beyond the origin and the fact that Supes fought three criminals from Krypton at one point (currently, on Smallville, a Zod storyline is currently being formed). The new film will be structured in such a way that you could watch either the Reeve films, or Smallville, and then come into the new film and have everything make sense. Personally, I think that is a really good idea.

I certainly have reservations about this film, but I thought Singer knocked it out of the park with the first two X-Men films, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
