That's probably what I'll have for lunch. Dinner will be provided to me free of charge by the hospital employees cafeteria. It's okay, but it's not as good as a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal.

yeah i bet. nothing is ever as good as a home cooked meal.

I'm going to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving and bringing my dish with me. I hope my mom makes those Sweet Potato Pies. I love waking up on Thanksgiving morning to the smell of those. Plus my grandma's stuffing is always on point...i can't wait!!!!
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yep, like I have every Thanksgiving for the past 16 years.

I'll be making Sweet potato and green bean casseroles and mashed potatoes to take to family's house. But then my husband wants a full dinner here, so I make double batches of what I take to the family's house plus, turkey, dressing, chitterlings, greens and mac n cheese.
I'm firmly planted in denial

tomorrow I'm trying a new recipe...basic but sounds yummy:

Shoepeg Corn Casserole

INGREDIENTS:

* 1/2 cup chopped onion
* 1/2 cup chopped celery
* 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
* 1/2 cup shredded mild Cheddar cheese
* 1 (11 ounce) can white corn, drained
* 1 (14.5 ounce) can French cut green beans, drained
* 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup
* 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
* 1/4 (16 ounce) package buttery round crackers, crushed
* 1/2 cup butter, melted

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a large bowl, combine onion, celery, green pepper, cheese, corn, green beans, soup and sour cream. Spoon into a 2-quart casserole dish.
3. Combine crushed crackers with melted butter and sprinkle on top of vegetables.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.

No. This is the first Thanksgiving in a long while that I won't be cooking ANYTHING. feels strange...I hope my mom does a good job with the food and doesn't expect me to help clean up either! I'd be truly thankful then.

Sorry, no I won't be cooking anything for Thanksgiving. I'll be working at the tv station (holiday pay woot-woot!). Actually all the regulars are working, even the anchors and the news director, because we are in the middle of the ratings book.

Likely, if anything is open, might go to Subway, or a fast food joint. Or I might go home on my break and cook something.

for sure woot! i LOVE this holiday yay! i have to go to my aunts house for awhile, so i will see some family there... my mom's still in michigan and since we get her for Christmas, my sister gets her for thanksgiving sad then, my brother is going to his mother-in-law's house with his wife and their son ... so, thats all my "real" family sigh

i'll go, although i dont want to.... and i'll be nice and have fun, cuz i have to.... but, if i had it MY way, i would be here with my babies enjoying the day off, watching some good movies, fire in the fireplace, and cooking up a storm nod i am actually cooking OUR thanksgiving dinner the day before giggle the kids and i are very excited about that. a ham, a small turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, slow cooked green beans, cranberry casserole, sweet potatoes, salad, cornbread, homemade rolls, green rice, and a few kinds of pies.

oh, and its time to drag out the holiday decorations too woot! so, thats always fun.....

i figure it like this, just because i dont have plenty of folks around, i shouldnt comprimise the holiday or take away from my babies holiday, i'll be damned - they're either gonna remember me for TRYING to make it right, or feeding them thanksgiving leftovers for a month falloff

happy thanksgiving whatever you all do grouphug
