I miss the REAL Eddie Murphy everytime Coming to America or Boomerang or 48 Hours comes on tv. I don't know what the hell happened to him but he's no longer a draw for me. He just seems permanently MOLDED from his tranny hooker incident, hiding behind voice over gigs & family values bullshit. Gimme a break - I don't care who you fuck, just be funny i HATE watching 48 hours. nick nolte comes off as a frikkin racist and gets away with it in the guise of 'humor' Well, that's kinda the intention/arc of the character I mean, I don't enjoy hearing him say the N word & making watermelon jokes, but the movie is still enjoyable as a whole Would I prefer it w/o those things? OF COURSE But I can't shun the whole movie b/c of that. Hell, Goodfellas is the best movie ever made IMO & the N word is sprinkled in that too. But I watch that shit every time it comes on.

Eddie Murphy was such a homophobe.

That's usually the first sign. Extreme homophobia is usually an effort to repress one's own orientation.

Eddie forgot to keep his hand in edgy stand-up. He disappeared into the land of cheesy movies and never came back. Chris (who certainly owes much to Murphy's stand-up) has made equally-bad choices in terms of flicks, but he continues to do his HBO specials, which maintain his rep for intelligent comedy. Rock is proof-positive that maturing doesn't mean you have to neuter yourself and that whether or not you use the word "fuck" has nothing to do with how "grown-up" you are.

HEARD OF HIM
Quite a controversial character but a solid comedian. I wouldn't consider him a 'messiah' though. brothaluv said: He's black too...not that it matters. Last year, he turned down the Richard Pryor comedy award in Edinburgh I think. I always thought that was kinda odd. Turning down free publicity like that. Pretty much explains why you never heard of him... M.2.K

Eddie matured and decided he didn't have to use the blue humor so much. Then once he did Nutty Prof., the Family scripts just came rolling in (along with the cheddar) due to his versatility.
So basically, instead of kinda bashing him for this change, praise him for being able to pull this shit off without a hitch. I don't see anyone asking how come Tom Hanks stopped doing comedy? Also, Eddie IS about to drop a CUSS-FILLED flick. Charlie confirmed it in an interview and I believe Charlie is one of the writers on the project. No release date or title was set of yet. Educate, tolerate, negotiate, communicate
litigate, graduate, appreciate, separate interrogate, violate, fluctuate, perpetrate masturbate, stimulate, stimulate, stimulate...

Hey I like Eddie and I have no problem with his direction. If that's what he wants, so be it. Eddie doesn't have the heart to pull off the raw stuff anymore. Leave that to the Joe Rogans and Doug Stanhopes of the world.
