Anyone have a crazy sandwich they've made up?!?!

I did!
Most of you will think it's gross...but mine is; pan-fried Genoa salami with Tartar sauce and American cheese on white bread.

YUM!!!

Once I made a sandwich with string in it for my sister to take to school for lunch. She cried in the classroom when she bit into it and I got in big trouble. 25 years later and I still never hear the end of the string sandwich mad

Ey, dog, I'm not into mayo, but have you ever gone out and had nachos, then brought them shits home and they got soggy in the fridge but then you put some doritos in there and ate the rest of the nacho toppings with those? OMG. How come nobody just buys doritos and tops them and serves them in a mexican restaurant? That would beat all.

I used to eat peanut butter and syrup sandwiches. drool I know a few people who actually like peanut and syrup, so I wouldn't call it unusual. My mama said she used to eat ketchup and mustard sandwiches when she was little :iil:

I LOVE sandwiches, and sandwiches love me. We were meant to be together, cosmically, for I was born during National Sandwich Month (August, if you need to know for next year's celebration of NSM). Unfortunately, I love sandwiches too much, and can't be trusted with bread in the house, as I will make a sandwhich out of almost anything. Especially if there's Vegenaise about. For some reason, the taste of Vegenaise on bread with tomatoes is like crack to me. Other stuff(lettuce, "cheese", "meat", etc.) is cool, but all I really need is the Vegenaise, bread and tomatoes. I've eaten about 6 of them in a 20 min. period before, finally stopping myself wit the knowledge that I wouldn't have more time to get more Vegenaise for the next several days. I'm also extremely partial to left-over Tofurky and Vegenaise sammiches. They might well be my favorite part of Thanksgiving. That and the socially-sanctioned gluttony. As my dear husband put it: "for one day, the rest of the nation catches up with you." Well, they do their best, anyway. Also, during National Sammich Month, my roommate Aimee made a really kick-ass sammich for me; it had tofurkey slices, tofutti cheese, tomatoes, vidalia onion, Vegenaise, and a little bit of apricot jam, all pan-fried. F@#$ it was good. Finally, for my birthday this year, we made a Pake, which is a pie sandwiched inside a cake. There were some logistical, and recipe problems, but I have high hope for next year!

On the subject of strange sammiches, I find it somewhat surprising that I don't have more strange experiences. My roomies think it's odd that I like butter and jelly, and I've certainly tried a number of sammiches, including PB and Pickle, PB and potato chip, PB and syrup, PB and chocolate, chocolate and melted butter, chocolate and syrup, butter and honey, "cream cheese" and honey/syrup/jelly/butter/PB, etc. etc. with mixed results. I've actually had a literal ice cream sandwich before, that is, two slices of bread with ice cream betwixt them. It was just alright. The bread was more of a distraction from the ice cream than a complementary flavor. Now that I think of it, I should have tried it with maple syrup, or honey, or jelly, or any number of other things that one can top ice cream with.

I think this is really the key to my love of sammiches: there is no limit to how creative you can get with them. The possibilites boggle the mind.

My favorite sandwich that I've heard of was from a gent in the UK, who made an 8,000 calorie sandwich to celebrate the end of finals week, or similar. He posted pictures; I'd love to try a vegan version someday.

That reminds me of the movie "The Breakfast Club"...Ally Sheedy and her sandwich. A slice of white bread, a slice of wheat bread---both slapped with butter...she then covers both slices with sugar and fills it with Captain Crunch cereal.

lol
