Not very exciting, but true, nonetheless. Just a few weeks ago (late september?) we were taking pics of the scholarship students in the area near the studio (www.apastudios.com). There's a spiffy new trolley stop a the top of the hill where my studio is at, but you can only get to/from it via stairs/elevator. On the way back down from pic taking, the owner, myself, and about 7 of the other studnets got stuck between floors in the elevator for about 1.5 hrs. It wasn't so bad, although some people had places to go and some people freaked out 'cause it was so warm. It was kind of frustrating, though, when people (including the gent from the elevator company) would come up, press the button, and then shrug and walk away. Eventually, the gorgeous boys from the fire dept. came and rescued us (many a joke about how we could thank them). In conclusion, we all got passes to ride the trolley for free during the month of Oct., which worked well for me, as I had Jury duty the first week. After my last day of duty, I gave my pass to a woman in a wheelchair I ran into who was asking for quarters for trolley fare. Not very exciting, but true nonetheless.

my friend told me an awful story that she was shopping at a mall in Kuala Lumpur (she is malaysian) and these two ladies in high heels BOTH tripped near the bottom on their way down an escelator, and fell down and their necklaces got caught where the steps disappear they screamed and screamed trying to keep their hair from going in there too, until someone turned the thing off

I had an elevator drop a couple of floors on me once in one of the dorms at Winona State University in Winona, MN. The doors opened up after that and I was inbetween floors. I went all the way down to the basement and took the stairs back up to the main level to get the hell out of that building.

My worst case scenario: getting stuck in the lift at the mall, with all the kids and 10 other people, baby is crying because he is tired and hungry and has a pooey nappy and the older 2 wanting to go to the toilet.
Hasn't happened yet but it is only a matter of time
