Give blood

I was at the Red Cross donating blood today (as I do every 2 months) and they said they have pretty severe shortages right now and I noticed the place was emptier then usual so if you are able you should please donate blood. It takes about an hour but you can save a life smile

I will also add that the old lady who admisters the snacks at the Red Cross center here in St. Paul is adorable and if I were 80 I would ask her out in a minute smile She was wearing the cutest flare jeans today. I always look forward to the snacks and talking to her for a few minutes.

It is a good thing to do. I used to give every 8 wks but I am getting allergy shots twice a week so they do not allow me to donate.

I encourage everyone I know to donate blood. Marrow is also in need too.
peace

I would like to be able to do it ,but i hate it ..they put the needle into the really soft/thin skin on your arm ..and just a small blood test makes me feel faint. How much blood do they take?

i think i would pass out neutral

i also encourage people to become organ donors. i think that is one of the greatest gifts you can give. i know someone who has lived with diabetes basically her entire life and recently underwent a pancreas/kidney transplant. those new organs are giving her a chance at a life, and at a quality of life, that she only once could dream about.

i consider anybody who donates blood, marrow, etc or is an organ donor to be a true hero.

Agree nod
I am not sure why anyone would object to being an organ donor. We really do not need our organs once we are dead. I guess some ppl have religious reasons??
I am an organ donor, it is the least I can do when I leave this earth.

isn't one of the requirements for donating blood that you gotta wait about a year after getting a tattoo before you donate? hmmm and this reminds me: i always put the organ donor notification on my driver's license.

I used to give blood, until I got tired of lying about my sexuality for their own good. When and if the American Red Cross decides to change that policy, I will again start to donate blood.

If you're a man who's had sex with a man, they don't want your blood.

That part really bothers me, too.

They don't want my tainted blood anyway, since I lived in the UK for a year. disbelief I don't even bother to lie. Their policy sucks.

I am in the marrow donor pool, though. They are in need of part-Asians, so I put myself out there.
