well, same really... just feel like I spend entirely too much time here I guess I know whatcha mean. Occasionally I feel like I'm logging in too often, but that only happens when I'm bored. The org is a 'hobby' just like anything else. Sometimes there are ways I'd rather spend my free time and sometimes there aren't. |

well, same really... just feel like I spend entirely too much time here I guess What's funny is that I could post on here 40 times in one day...and only spend an hour or so, total. on the Org...I'm usually only here for lengths at a time when I'm talking to someone in orgnotes or pop ups. But it's close by as I work (since I work at my computer and online)...it's a casual, brainless break from everything else I'm doing during the day, which usually consists of building registration sites and doing interactive prototyping work. Which is as dry and mind-numbing as it sounds... So coming on here for 5-10 minutes throughout the day is a much needed break...I know my emotional priorities.

For a lot of people, those two things seem to be one and the same. Every time they meet with friends they only "catch up" and talk about what they've done and what they're planning to do. They might sometimes talk about the present too, but then it's always in an abstract "where they stand in life" way. They've elevated themselves to some sort of meta-level where they're not living the now, they're just talking about it as if they were looking at themselves and their lives from the outside. That's okay on the Org, but really sad when they do it in real life, IMO.

I've started a thread about this with some of my thoughts. It was deleted and right now I don't feel the energy to explain everything once again.
But yeah, I do wonder sometimes. A life on the internet, it's something strange. And I guess almost everyone here has one. But that doesn't mean you should feel bad about it. Sometimes I do.

The laptop is on all day, every day.
I have about 3 sites that I must visit and hang around. I'm interrupted of course by work, meals, and other activities ...but whenever I pass by my computer I refresh my browser and see what's going on. I've been thinking about setting up two or three anti-Internet days a week. Because if I go online for anything ...mail ...banking ...I always end up here.
