Rather than speak in absolutes about how the universe cosmically favors pumpkin pie, and that sweet potato pie molested me as a child, I'll just say that in my experience, I prefer pumpkin pie. Maybe it's just the tradition I happened to grow up with? I can't recall having sweet p. in my childhood....Or maybe it's an elvis/bealtes kind of thing.

My kids' great-grandmother used to make a sweet potato pie with a graham cracker crust that would make you cream your pants. She had to make five or six of them every year, and they had to hide them during dinner! The Normal Whores Club

I like Pumpkin Pie better. I guess it's a texture thing. Pumpkin is smoother and fruitier tasting. Sweet Potato Pie is too starchy IMO.

Pumpkin pie tastes like a pale, flavorless version of sweet potato pie to me. Maybe because I had sweet potato first and didn't taste pumpkin until years later, I dunno. The Normal Whores Club

Sweet potato pie is freaker than pumpkin pie...meaning this:
when pumpkin pie is being smacked against my ass, it doesn't taste all that good...but sweet potato pie...hmmm you can lick that off of all of body parts and it'll still be sweet.... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
