I them!! The older I get, the more I seem to appreciate them. I love the spirited performances, music and dancing that goes along with a good musical or Broadway play.

The play "Rent" is now coming out as a movie, and I can't wait to go see it. I'm hooked on the song "Seasons of Love", it's so darn catchy.

I LOVE Plays and Likewise Can't wait for Rent coming out in 2 weeks.Living in NY I saw Rent and Phantom and CHICAGO. I saw Alot LES MISERABLES ETC.

we saw the color purple the other night... it was terrible.

the book was so much better

the emotion was false, the way they play celie is COMPLETELY wrong, the mister is totally inept and not remotely scary, the abuse is slimmed down to one community theatre bad moment where he "slaps" her, but his hand is about 3 feet from her face, two of the best and most important moments (her about to slit his throat and her hiding her smile and then letting it shine with sug) are completely gone, they make TONS of bad directing choices (seriously - if celie touches her kids in the africa sequence, most of which is cut down to a very bad dance number that is lion king but way cheesier, then it kills her seeing the kids in the end, dream sequence or not), celie DANCES while at harpo's juke joint (), and so many more problems.

it was horrifying.

my roommate also wants to add "that sophia is beaten in one scene, in jail the next and then at the dinner table when celie leaves, they completely left out the stuff with her being the maid to the governor's wife and the emotion only plays because they know the audience has seen the movie, and that they are in such a hurry to tell the rest of the story that they forget why the story is even being told"

I've heard about this for some time now, and I can't believe they even attempted to make it into a play, much less a musical. Both the book and the movie work, because they are not contained within a small time period or place. The movie and book are sprawling works. I would think it damn near impossible to get the emotional impact of Celie and Nettie's spiritual growth through their maturing and TRAVELS in a stage set. That was half the impact of the previous works.

I like Off BROADWAY and OFF OFF BROADWAY Too. You see more STRANGE STUFF.. I'm NOT Trying to Brag..I just NEVER STAYEd HOME. Alas believe it or Not I NEVER SAW CATS! That is UNBELIEVABLE.... It's Great to see ACTORS off the SCREEN...Since I am a GROUPIE I Just LOVE THEM..To ME to See them and mEET Them and it's Just COOL. I saw SANDRA BERNHARDT ALOT and SHE ACTUALLY STRIPPED to LITTLE RED CORVETTE.....WithOUT You I'M NOTHING...Also a Great one WAS LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS....You know who you should ABSOLUTELY SEE??? KAREN FINLEY...She's LESBIAN and VERY OFF THE WALL! And PENNY ARCADE.

Never saw the play "Cats", but my parents have. Never saw "Little Shop of Horrors" either, but that's another play that people like a lot. adding those two to my growing list
