It Happened Yet Again....

when I went to cash my check at the bank. When the teller gave me the money, she gave me $50 bills. This happened to me twice already, the first time it happened, the teller did not ask me if I wanted the money in a certain denomination of bills (which they usually do), she just gave it to me.

The second time it happened, I specifically told the teller that I did not want $50.00 bills, and she acknowledged it by saying something like, "Okay". She takes the money out of her drawer and starts putting it down on the counter as she's counting it. I happen to glance at the money, and lo and behold, I see two $50.00 bills in there, when I specifically asked not to receive them. I told the teller, "Can I have $20.00 bills instead of those two $50's? I don't really have any need for a $50 bill." She changed it for me, but I'm wondering what's going on here.

I don't like carrying $50.00 bills around, because it seems like 9 times out of 10, the store, fast food restaurant or wherever you spend it at, does not have the right change if you try to use it. I don't want to go through the hassle of them telling me, "I'm sorry, we don't have the money in our drawer to give you change for that. Do you have a smaller bill that you could use?"

This happened twice at the same bank. I'm thinking that they must have a lot of $50.00 bills that they can't get rid of, and that's why they keep giving them to me, even when I tell them not to. rolleyes I'm wondering if I go to the same bank but a different branch if the same thing will happen there as well? lol disbelief
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Have your checks direct deposited and you will not have to worry about that. Just be prepared to receive your money in 20 increments because most atms do not have 10s nowadays

hug Hi jb! I could get direct deposit, but I don't know if my current employer offers it (not all companies do). I can deal with $20 bills, it's the $50 bills that I have an issue with. lol
