some of you guys probably know this guy dennis oppenheim. i however am new to him. i'm not a big fan of conceptual art. but this guy i really like. his sculptures are quirky and have a great deal of humor behind them. i really like this piece of work that is in this link below. i wonder if retina has heard of this dude before...

Oppenheim eh? It makes me think of Oppenheimer who created the atomic bomb. This seems way more constructive though...

The upside-down church with a shattered roof is almost overloaded with symbolism, but I still like it. Definitely the kind of piece that turns heads and provokes a thought or two. And yeah, it is quite humorous too.

The houses in the first picture make me think of compact living somehow. It's as if he's saying "hey, since a lot of people have to be packed like herrings into undersized apartments, why not shuffle private houses into a pile too and save some space?". Besides, if the exterior of my place was as messy as the interior, it would look something like that. smile

The rabbit factory is a bit boring, both visually and conceptually.

The Austrian one seems to fit really well into the cityscape though, and the performance art piece looks cool. I just love performance art in general and to incorporate fireworks is an interesting idea.

Thanks for the tip, brownsugar! thumbs up!
