sometimes there's just nothing you can do. just put it away and wait until the inspiration strikes again. lol

or just go for a walk. listen to music. take a break and get something to eat. maybe call a friend or even read something. i'm not sure what it is you're writing, but sometimes; for me (usually with poetry/lyrics), i leave it alone. if it was meant to be written; it'll come back to you. if not. start over or move on to the next topic/thought.

biggrin

Yes just walk away. I found that a major prob when i had deadlines for my novel class. I don't like just writing anything. It'z gotta be a jem. If you really gotta get to it, chose a random object- like an apple or a vase or a curtain and think about how you would describe it...then let your creativity flow- it'z amazing what kindz of ideas or scenes or entrances into chapters you can come up with!! And if it doesn't fit what you're writing- that'z okay, keep it in a journal and go back to it another day or use it with a new idea nod

Just live your life a lil' bit. Get out, see some sights. Walk around the mall. I find that I always come back with ideas and looking forward to laying down some cool prose. Sometimes just gettin' out helps a lot. Don't force it, unless you're one of those writers who writes 50 romance novels a year like clockwork. If you're writing something substantive, it can be as simple as putting it away and doing something else. Good luck!

freewrite.

put some music on that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed, take a nice shower, clean your room, make some tea, then sit your ass down and just WRITE for an hour about anything. ANYthing.

i promise you, by the end of that hour you'll be in a better headspace.

I agree I am a freelance writer. Having writers' block is very agonizing. Nothing worse than watching "cursor blink"

freewriting is good because it gets all the junk out of your system and it warms up your brain for the activity of writing. if you can't think of anything to freewrite about, just write about sex or start writing a letter to someone you hate, and i bet the words will flow from your fingertips like water.

This is true,I almost always do freewriting before I settle in and get serious about working. I've come up with some good ideas that way. cool
