This Saturday is my annual 'friend' Thanksgiving. There's a group of my friends that has grown now to about 30 of us who get together every year and make tons of yummy food and drink lots of wine and tell each other why we're thankful we're friends. It's cheesy and sappy but often also hilarious and one of the parties I look forward to every year.

As for actual thanksgiving, I've no idea yet. Probably spending the day with my parents.

oh, don't let me fool you. Like any 'real' family get together, it's not without it's drama. But the fact that we put up with all the crap and still have such a fabulous time together is kinda a testament to the fact that we are, in our own way, our chosen family.

My cupcake is coming back from ATL and I think we're going to his Dad's house. (I've never met his folks yet...I'm nervous headlp :-0 ). I'll also be turning out four sweet potato cheesecakes for his fam and all the other people at work and friends who've requested it. I think I need to charge folks! I see a new trade on the horizon smile

I'm excited to see him...he's been moved away three weeks. Looks like I'm doing Christmas in ATL... NO complaints!

Every year we have "Oprhan Thanksgiving" at my place. All of our friends who have no family in the area (or would rather eat with us than their family) come over and we have scrumptious food. My roommate is a chef and this year we're doing a Cajun theme thanksgiving. Mmmmmm.....

I'm going down to Raleigh, North Carolina to stay at my brother and sister-in-law's place. They just built a new house this year, and it's going to be nice to see what it looks like. My other two brothers and their wives and families are coming down too, as well as my parents.

The day after Thanksgiving, we are having family pictures taken. It should be a great time, and nice to get away for a few days. I'm looking forward to it, since my family and I are a tight-knit family. biggrin

Hey, I was just thinking, I need to call IrresistibleBitch to possibly meet up with her while I'm down there. Not sure how far away she lives from my brother's house, but it might be doable. hmmm
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm not sure exactly what part of Raleigh, to be honest. I did see Irresistible in the chatroom tonight and mentioned it to her. It turns out that she will not even be in town for Thanksgiving, so that kind of changes things. One day though, we will meet. It's cool that you live in Durham, that IS close to Raleigh. biggrin I know that Mach lives in NC as well.

I never heard of Spaghetti on Thanksgivig. My family eats Spaghetti like every week. So it'll be a little odd for us, but sounds good, enjoy your Thanksgiving.
Some people think I'm kinda cute

My mama's visiting (and staying with) me and my boyfriend for Thanksgiving. She's never come to visit me, so it's a big deal. We've been getting the house in order. It'll be fun, but I'm anticipating getting on each other's nerves in my small two-bedroom apartment.

Mama and I will be cooking together, and we're going to make:

Sweet potato suffle
Turkey, rubbed with butter, garlic, sage and rosemary
Dressing w/sausage and sage
Cranberry sauce
Homemade buttermilk biscuits

And for dessert:
Pumpkin pound cake
Pumpkin pie
Coconut cream pie...maybe
biggrin
