xmas=headache

Each year I get more and more "bahh humbug".

I hate the crowds at the mall, the traffic and the over-eating. The past three years I have taken my tree down the day after christmas.

I will not stress myself out over this crap. Shit, If I stress out anymore than I already am, Im going need to double my dose of meds. Im not buying for anyone but my kids and the dog. And they will all get Gift Cards....They can spent them how ever they please.

I tend to spend way too much at xmas time. Most of the crap that I buy ends up in a corner, still in the box. My kids will play with toys once or twice, then they forget about it. My dad still wears the vest I bought him 3 years ago. So that means that he has at least two new vests sitting in his closet. The dog never plays with anything new. He likes his old toys and his old blanket. I go out of my way to buy toys they ask for. FOR WHAT? so they can forget about it. I end up paying for xmas the whole damn year. My credit card bills speak for themselves. I dont enjoy xmas, I really dont. Just the thought gives me a headache. Call me a Grinch, I dont care.....

Can anyone relate???
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

I'm thinking of making a sizable contribution to a charity I know my family will support and leaving it at that.

I know that won't fly cause I've got a million nieces and nephews now and I've a habit of spending foolishly on them, but only cause I only had 1 for years and now I've got 4. I can't spend on all of them what I used to spend on my one niece every year. So now I feel like a bad aunt. sad

last year a really stretched myslef and my bank account trying to make everyone happy and ended up getting accused of ruining christmas by one (step) family member because what i needed to do for my entire family didn't fit her narrow definition of christmas. christmas has never been easy for me but that was the last straw.

It's just a holiday of obligation that makes people miserable and brings out their most selfish, piggish, and hateful nature. merry shitmas everyone! i'm going to try to stay as stress free as possible this year and spend as much time in NYC and as little time at home(s) as possible. sigh stupid christmas. christ wasn't even born in the winter. pout

I wish you did too, but I understand that the rush, the money, the mess can drive folks up the wall. Maybe this year will be better. hug

Fuck the humbugs! lol I love everything about Christmas - even the crowds at the mall. That said, I try to make Christmas as much about my family, friends, home and church as much as possible. Gift giving is nice, but that's not what it's about for me. Not to be all Laura Ingalls Wilder, but it really is about peace and love for this old kid. I just accept that it's going to be a busier time of year than any rest but also a more fun and giving time.

My parents pretty much stopped celebrating in the early 70s because they found it too commercial...

And Jesus wasn't even born on Dec. 25th, so there's no real religious reason to celebrate either.

Suffice to say, I think good, generous spirit can be celebrated all year 'round.
