The AMERICANS are PRETTY DAMN GOOD.... It does Seem like ROMANIA and CHINA have Some GREAT ATHLETES.....Canada is No SLOUCH EITHER. Where do U think the Best ATHLETES are BRED?

Different countries have their specialties.

Now in one like France, you won't see a ton of Olympic champions overall, but they are strong in judo and fencing, for instance.

I would have been very surprised if the US and China hadn't produced good athletes considering that they have 250 million and 1,3 billion inhabitants respectively. Sweden is doing pretty damn well with its 9 million "possibilities". Like Heiress said though, different countries have different specialties and it mostly depends on the climate but to some degree also on culture. If football (soccer) had been an integrated part of American culture, they would most likely have been one of the dominating nations in that sport. On the same token, they would have received very strong competition if the rest of the world had been interested in American football.
