How fast does your life move? I've been thinking about this a lot recently, because it's something I've been noticing more and more, over the past couple of months especially...
Do you feel like your life vibrates faster (or slower) than most people around you on any given day? Like you're moving at an accelerated rate and everyone else is in super-slo-mo (or vice-versa, I suppose)? Is this a manifestation of one's metabolism, or is it something more mentally centered, or is it just...I dunno??? Am I trying to describe something that's been explained as a basic scientific fact ages ago, that I was too bored and lazy to grasp in my junior high science class?

My life moves as you know at a very high pace. Although because of this I carve out a lot of private space here at home!

but does the life you lead move fast, or do you feel like you move quickly through your days regardless of what your objectives are?

My sister is constantly in crazy motion, as if she's just ingested thirty cups of coffee, regardless of what's going on in her life. As my mother would say, "It's a nature ".

Well, I live in California...life here moves very fast, if one likes it or not. I like it at times but feel runover at others. I note life in the Midwest namely Minneapolis moves at a far more relaxed clip. SO when there I would feel the life I lead is moving fast. So on and so forth. I'd say it is a two fold thing. Your pace versus the pace of your surroundings. Many leave California as there personal pace slows.

i don't feel like i'm edgy or jumpy or HIGH ENERGY or anything like that. i just do things quickly. i eat quickly. i walk fast. i get work done quickly. i type super fast. stuff like that. about the only thing i can think of that i do slowly is read books, and that's mainly because i like to pay attention to how the author is writing. i don't know that i'm particularly restless or perpetually-buzzed. i just feel a lot of the time like i'm walking through quicksand.

Very laid back, so I'd say my life doesn't move quickly...I let the natural rhythms of my body and soul dictate a lot.

I eat quickly (on a trip to Vegas with some American friends, they asked me if all Canadians ate so fast ) and I type quickly. Other than that, I don't think I'm generally in any rush.

Other than that, I don't think I'm generally in any rush. i'm always feeling like the objective of what i'm doing at any given moment is to get it done so i can move on to the next thing. i don't really consider it being in a rush, but i do have a constant suspicion that there's something just a little more interesting around the corner at any given moment.

I used to be like that when I was younger. The key is to realize that you cannot possibly experience everything in life and just try to slow down and enjoy the moment. Either that or come to terms with the fact that everything is ultimately meaningless and that the next thing is just as empty as the current thing.

I think for some people, like myself. I am moving at the speed of light compared to most around me. But i am high energy...walk and talk sorta fast. I always have somewhere to go and something to do. I have an agenda DAMNIT! Christian Zombie Vampires

Many parts are pretty slow moving...Sacto, Fresno, Santa Cruz, I really think it's the life you lead. 1) do you have things to do outside of work...like a goal you work on besides work 2) How social are you...Lots of friends...or very few. 3) Do you like to stay at home? Or do you fill it with activities...like shopping, going to the movies? Biking? Running? Christian Zombie Vampires

Are you impatient in some areas? Like for me I can wait for things. But in terms of getting somewhere...I have to get there quickly with no delays. Christian Zombie Vampires

I walk and talk quickly, too. People always comment on it. At work, I am very speedy and efficient, and it pisses me off to no end when my slothy co-workers drag their feet. This is normal for me, but sometimes I do have my off days where I'm just so slow and no matter what I do I can't seem to speed up. I mean, like, where is the sun?

I have to agree. Your pace is greatly predestined! I can tell you from the womb how my children would take life's pace.

I have to agree. Your pace is greatly predestined! I can tell you from the womb how my children would take life's pace. Isn't it proven that regardless of how hard you try, you cannot change the quickness of your pace? It's something ingrained in us. I mean, like, where is the sun?

Ex-Moderator | I walk quickly, type quickly, talk quickly, etc. I need to be on time to places, I get physically itchy if I'm running late. I used to be a lot worse, till one day a friend taught me how to relax a bit more and I threw my watch away.
Old habits can die hard, but I don't think I've got a fast-paced life in any way. I like to be quick about some things, and take my own sweet time about others. I think I've got a good balance down. |

Even though I think it's "a nature", that doesn't mean I believe you can't make your nature your bitch if you put your mind to it. [Edited 11/4/05 14:43pm]
