My wonderful new sick policy at work...........

"In regards to the sick policy, at times, employees get sick. As a result, we will offer a total of 7 days of sick days per calendar year after you have been sick for seven consecutive business days per occurence."

We only get % sick days per year. If you are off 2 days in a row you must bring in a Dr. statement of face severe discinpliary action!!! If it goes into day 3 and no note you can be terminated!!!!

The health insurance things sounds rough if they would just raise it without letting you know. Are you sure you didn't throw away the letter? Well you better get sick a couple of times to make up for the $480 extra they are getting you for big grin

I used to work for City of Melbourne and they have 15 sick days, plus carers leave, moving day (for when you move house - only applicable once per year) you think of it they have an allotted day for it. I only ever used to work for about 2 weeks each year woot!

where i used to work we got 14 days and we could use them either as sick days or vacation days. so taking a vacation and being sick were basically the same thing. rolleyes

the good thing was that we could pretty much get whatever time we needed but if it went over our vacation/sick time we didn;t get paid for it. shrug stupid policies. stupid money.

I don't get it. Do they actually tell you how long you can be sick in the US? lol

It reminds me of Monty Python's dead parrot skit somehow.

"I have a high fever and I have to go home"

"No you don't."

"Yes, I do, I feel really sick. I can't work"

"No, you don't have any sick days left so you're perfectly healthy"

"But I'm almost fainting here!"

"No, you're not"

smile

We're talking PAID time off on top of vacation. Are you saying that you can have unlimited paid sick time where you are.

That's what I have. If I wanted to call in sick tomorrow, I could and I would still get paid. This is unlimited.

Yup. Not by me (like I said, I've called in maybe 4 times in 4 years), but there are definitely some people who call in a couple times a month - who gets sick that often (barring some sort of chronic illness)....
