I was a huge cereal junkie when I was a little kid in the 80s. It was the highlight of each grocery store trip. It was one of the only things that I could pick out all by myself. lol

okay this isnt a cereal but i can't help remembering them when i recall favorite cereals from when i was a kid:

does anybody else remember Carnation Breakfast Bars? they came in a yellow box and yellow individual wrappers, and they freakin tasted like candy bars. i think they also came in a peanut butter flavor, but my favorite was the chocolate chip version. any cereal paled in comparison to these bars for me.

Carnation discontinued them in the early 80s sometime. bheart then they brought them back briefly later on, but totally changed the flavor and consistancy of the bar and they just weren't the same (in fact they were pretty awful sad), and now they don't make them at all anymore.

just wondering if anybody else remembered these delicious breakfast bars...

YES!!! I was actually looking for them not too long ago. They taste so much better that the crappy ones out there now. They still have Carnation instant Breakfast though.

i'm glad i'm not the only one here who remembers those breakfast bars! i agree -- they beat out the bars available these days. there was something about the texture of them that i really liked, besides the taste. when they sold them again briefly, Carnation had completely changed the texture which was one of the reasons i didn't like the 'new improved' version.

yeah, the Instant Breakfast drink is good. i have those sometimes (i really like the vanilla) but damn those BARS! i miss em sooo much. probably a lot of my wonderful memory of how good they were is nostalgia for me too though. smile

I had a mad, mad craving for Carnation Instant Breakfast bars when I was pregnant... which was very weird, considering I hadn't eaten one in decades. lol

My mom never let us eat sugar coated cereal.. we always got cherrios and rice krispies..

Sometimes if we were lucky, we would get frosted flakes.. that was rarely!
