You're totaly right, rape is nothing to joke about. But a man has his fantasies, and strangely enough when someone asks about mine I just say: "my biggest fantasy is being raped by five leathermen" having said that it must be clear that the "rape" must be a rape by consent, so it coudn't possibly be a rape because rape and consent can't be used in the same sentence, and I just did. I love sex, but it's not what my relationship is all about. It's not the CORE of our relationship: it's more of a by-product. It's only part of the relationship. I agree that when we first starting dating, we were more lustful, but we weren't necessarily "in love" at that point, ya know?? We were in "lust," but didn't really fall in love until later. I also agree that now that we have been together a total of almost 10 years and married for more than half of those, sometimes we have to make time for sex coz work and other stress can drain us. But the irony is that even though we aren't constantly having sex, we love each other more than we ever have. So I also wouldn't ditch our marriage for any sexual problem that might occur, and eventually that could happen as we get older because life might become even more complex.
I don't think that sex is over-rated, but I do think that people place too much emphasis on "sex" sometimes and put too much pressure on themselves. I don't take it too seriously, but I also do enjoy my relationship with my husband, so I enjoy being intimate with him, too, whether it's physical or emotional intimacy. I just think we need to be who we are and not compare each other all of the time coz what works for one couple might not work for another, but the love and commitment is still there. At one point it's that companionship, commitment, love that all of us will hold-on to. Hopefully good-sex will be part of that as well, but it's the "love" and "emotional" intimacy that ultimately be most important and long-lasting. | |
