I still have an extensive video collection from the 80s. I have three atari systems (2600, 5200, 7800), colleco vision, the Adam Computer, and many hand held games.
I play my atari 7800 regularly since it can play both the 2600 and 7800 games.

Aside from Phantasy Star, this is one of my all time favorite 8-bit games...
And for Genesis, this game had me absolutely glued for weeks... Anyone remember Mystery House on the old Apple II?

Funny, I don't remember any of the games you guys have posted. I was in love with the C64. These were some of my favourites:

i bought one of those 100-games-in-one systems that just plug into your tv last year (track and field, duck hunt, mario, paperboy)--i used to beat the crap out of super mario, but found that i could barely get past level 3 now
(the cheap shit broke after about 3 months--i'm glad i only paid $20 for it ) you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

I know it's not 80's related, but I wonder why the dreamcast didn't really take off? I used to love this game....both parts.

I was pretty young in the 80's but I started on video games at a pretty early age (One of my first memories, in fact, is of Super Mario Bros). My favorites were Zelda I & II, Metroid, Super Mario Bros, The Goonies II, Bubble Bobble (I actually have a t-shirt of the green dragon, Bubblun, on right now), Rygar, and Wizards & Warriors (Anyone remember that one? It's an early game from the people who made Donkey Kong Country and Goldeneye). ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

I forgot Castlevania! Although I only liked the second game, Simon's Quest, as a kid, because I and III were too hard. I love the whole NES trilogy now, though. CVIII is one of the greatest action games ever made. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

MacPlaymate was probably the 1st adult computer game (on a Mac anyway). Around the mid 80s. It was funny, the person I would play would go to the bathroom or something while I was playing on like level 2 or something and then they would come back and I would be on level 4!!! That shit was off the hook, I always knew all the little hideouts and shortcuts. Hell yeah. I need to find them mario games again. I cannot find them though. I did see a copy of mario all stars for the snes. I guess i could get that. I never had it as i had the main 3 games already on the nes (or mario toaster as we would call it) Remember duck hunt? I can still imagine the noise the dog would make when u missed. Damn, it all comes flooding back. Ironic as i've been on all the old sonic games of late. Sonic rules. Iam nintendo loyal, and fuck the new xbox and ps3, nintendo are doing it again with the new controller and console. I swear about a year ago i said to my mate "these next gem consoles play just like the old ones". Now nintendo are addressing that issue by making us play games quite differently. Cant wait. oh superspaceboy, i remember mario world. I swear i found every bloody level (there was 100 apparantly and I got to about 96 found) and my brother deliberately wiped it off the memory. I killed him for that mario world was sooooo good. i hated that damn dog in Duck Hunt...I only used to play that when i got bored with Mario. Gosh those were the days, those memories are coming back to me!!! on Nintendo 64, that Mario game was hard as shit...I only got about 99 stars also, and could never find that last one. It's been so long since i've played it, that I don't even remember the tricks and shit no more. I really have to have a lot of time on my hands now to even attempt to play that thing. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I guess on a similar subject here, did anyone see that the old Legend of Zelda cartoon series has been released on DVD? I picked it up a week ago along with Resident Evil 4, and it's quite delightfully cheesy. They made Link into such a corny douchebag on that. [Edited 11/2/05 20:45pm] ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~
