Under the advice of a couple of folks here, I called the American Red Cross last week to see if I could get some assistance (as most of you know, I was the victim of a house fire) and the guy told me that I was past the two week deadline, but I could call some 1-800 number and they could see what they could do for me. Well, I have caller ID on my phone at work and this guy is calling me SEVERAL times a day and not leaving messages on my voicemail!
I don't want to seem ungrateful, but this is a little extreame.

Report it!

some people just feel very uncomfortable leaving a message
and just try the number again until someone picks up. i do
that quite often, just hang up when i get a machine and in
an hour or so try again if the person picks up.

I tried to...I called the number back that was on my caller ID and it was a switchboard. The operator said she had no way of tracing the call, but next time he calls I'm answering it and getting his name (I didn't write it down the first time.)

Andrea, I don't think the Red cross deserves reporting...more then likely the man is trying to make sure you were able to file a paper after the date. Why not answer and hear them out or let them know others took care of it?

I would only be pissed if they DIDNT make a further effort!

I just got another call from the Red Cross. The guy said something about not hearing from me and the only thing they can do at this point is to write a letter of recommendation for me so I could get up to three pieces of furniture from St. Vincent de Paul. That would totally be great, but the guy creeped me out so much with his nervous laughter and calling so much and not leaving messages that I hurried off the phone without any help. He also said something about "even if I just wanted to talk..." but, I don't think talking with him would help me in any way. Then he gave me a lecture about remembering smoke alarms and getting insurance.
This fire was not my fault and I had working smoke alarms. I didn't have insurance because I am still recovering from a lay-off last year. I've been at my current job for only 9 months.

Sorry...I'm just a little emotional.

I doubt that he is stalking you... You use the term so lightly...

They are probably just trying to tie up lose ends.. Good luck.
