Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

What did you end up doing? I bet you came up with a killer costume... Nothing. I'm in lame ass Holland this year and they don't really celebrate it here. Of course, I decorated my front window pretty well, and carved a pumpkin, etc. There was a Halloween party on Saturday night at one of the bars here in Den Haag, and on the poster it said that if you dressed up you got free absinth. So I was going to go with a few friends, and do some sort of half-assed costume (which I hate doing. I want to go all out) but they all cancelled on me and I had to stay home. I stayed home and watched The Exorcist that night and then last night was just like any other Monday night here. We don't really have any super active holidays where everybody participates. I think the biggest thing we have in Sweden is Christmas and then Midsummer as a close runner-up. But at midsummer people usually gets so drunk that the party dies down around midnight anyway. And I absolutely hate it when people cancel in the last minute! It often makes me think that they were never actually planning to go anyway; they just thought it sounded cool to say "yeah let's meet up and do something".

Yeah, I would never, and HAVE never cancelled at the last minute on anyone. I think they all just freaked out because I said I was dressing up. You know, those kind of people that think they're too cool to put any sort of costume on or something. It's like I always say, that when we were young we were immature and silly, then we got into our teens and early twenties and became mature and intellectual, and now we're silly and immature again. Some people still take themselves too seriously though.

I mean, over here they didn't grow up with it as kids. [Edited 11/1/05 3:46am] "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven
