There is a Cute Black Kitty That Hangs Around in My Backyard

He's a stray that's been here for the last few months. He's real pretty, all black with pretty green eyes. A neighbor lady told me that some people around here feed him, so that explains why he comes back. Once you feed an animal you can't get rid of them, they just keep hanging around waiting for you to feed them again. lol Although I did see him walking through the yard with a chipmunk in his mouth one day, so it seems like he can fend for himself.

The neighbor lady also told me that several people have tried to catch him unsuccessfully (I guess he's real fast and hard to grab). If I didn't already have 3 kitties of my own, I would gladly take the little fella in. It makes me sad that people just dump animals off without caring what happens to them. sad Guess all I can do is give the kitty some tuna and water. I just wonder what's going to happen to him once the snow and cold comes? sad
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

awwww, i love and hate this story.

We have a few regular alley cats in our neighborhood. Lately there's a gorgeous orange cat that comes around a lot.

Last year we had a kitty come to visit at a party. We were drunk and fed her so she kept coming back. After a few days of feeding her we realized she was quite pregnant. We named her Mama Nacho and kept feeding her. I was so torn but being an alley cat I had no idea what diseases she may have had so I didn't feel comfortable keeping her in my house, nor did I have the ca$h to pay for her to go to the vet. So, I eventually brought her to the humane society. I cried like a baby giving her up and they were very nice and explained that if she tested negative for FIV that they'd have her with a foster family within days....

I "adopted" a stray black cat that had been abandoned by a previous occupant of a neighboring house. He's very sweet and grateful for the attention. I'm going to bring him inside for Halloween so that he doesn't get kidnapped. I don't know if that's an old wives' tale but I'm not taking any chances. lol

I've tried to keep him inside, but he never wants to stay very long.

I took him to the vet to get his shots, and the vet said he's pretty healthy. He'd been fending for himself for about a year before I came...unless another neighbor has fed him, too. He has a girlfriend, a fluffy BEAUTIFUL cat I've named Bukowski (before I found out it was a female). The black cat's name is Ginsy, after Ginsberg. Anyway, Bukowski is feral and will not come near me. I'd love to pet her because she is absolutely gorgeous.

I'm also concerned about the coming winter and how they'll cope, but I guess they've been through it before. There are plenty of hiding places around here, and a big shed in the back they can slip under.
