last year i was waiting in line at the dining hall with one of my friends, and his friend Reese. I didn't know Reese as well as my other friend, but I was getting to know him. He seemed pretty cool. So we were all joking around, messing with each other like silly college kids, and I flicked his ear from behind with my thumb & forefinger.

Fucker whips around and slaps me so hard his hand leaves a nifty mark on my face. I tried to hit him back, but it was pretty ineffective because I was rather upset.
No one said anything to him at the time...I ended up leaving.

Apparently he felt plenty justified in doing it since I'd flicked his ear. It was only after my friends saw how upset I was that they said anything to him.

I was just surprised at how there wasn't a huge reaction to the whole "guy hitting a girl in a public settting" when it happened. Maybe it was because the dining hall was really crowded & busy, but I dunno.

Hopefully you can see by my above posts that I don't agree with actions against women (or dudes for that matter - I'm a lover, not a fighter). I can, however, take pleasure in jokes that make seem off-color to some (put it this way - NOTHING offends me - even jokes about the Catholic Church or other things that I hold dear).

I don't condone violence in any form, though I have to admit that I too, don't bat an eye when a woman slaps a man, but am pretty pissed off when it's the reverse. I know in my mind that it's not any different, and that my attitude about it based on the culture I live in, but for some reason the gut feeling doesn't change.

I have to wonder though: Society does not normally condone a man slapping a woman mostly, I think, because women tend to be smaller and weaker than men physically. BUT what if the woman is larger or stronger than the man? Like, what if Prince tried to slap Brigitte Nielsen?

Obviously he'd get his ass beat into the ground, but how do you suppose other people would react to seeing that?

I always smack them back. That's how you teach them to respect you. Trust me, if you do that, they will never ever even think about it again. It's like certain people (mostly white folks) giving their kids a "time out" when they're being brat instead of a good ass whoopin'. Time outs don't work, neither does "walking away" if you've been slapped by your girl.

Respect is not something people always automatically give you. Sometimes you need to show them what the consequences of disrespecting you are.

A gentlemen never need ask this question? It's not 1950. It's 2005. It needs to be asked. Why the double standard, Heiress?? Women are not helpless little creatures. They can take care of themselves. They are obviously strong enough to slap a guy in the face.

And what are college people play fighting for anyway. That's grade school behavior.
