The only episode that in retrospect might fall into that category, is one in which they were cooking something in the kitchen. For some reason, Buckwheat was sitting on top of the stove (might have been stirring a pot). He started to perspire, wiped his brow and flung his hand away. The shot cuts to the nearby wall where a dark fluid is dripping down.
I guess this insinuated that his perspiration was Black. disbelief

Anyway, other than that, I loved the show.
The episodes where Alfalfa sang were favs.

Some of those shows were charming, but there was a lot of humor based on racist stereotypes. Was it vicious? No, but it bothers me seeing black kids being the butt of jokes, speaking in dialect and wishing for fried chicken & watermelon.

Of course it's racist.

I loved the little rascals as a kid, but now that i'm grown, my eyes are opened. Next time it comes on, take a look at how Buck Wheat is dressed as opposed to alfalpha, spanky and the rest of em. Buck's pants are tooooo short, ala Michael Jackson, they have holes, his hair has never seen a comb, and he just looks dirty. The rest of em are in nice clean clothes, and in most cases, they're pressed.

On top of that, Buck Wheat couldn't talk. I watch the show now and I cringe everytime he opens his mouth....Sorta like listening to Allen Iverson give a press conference.

Day of the Gee-chee has gone, yet watching the little rascals is a constant reminder of the "good ole days". stoned

My mom used to rent old cartoons and kid's shows for us a lot when my sister and I were younger. I like the Little Rascals, but they definitely had some racist moments. It's amazing the kinds of things that fly right past us when we're kids, isn't it?

Peter Pan used to be my favourite Disney movie when I was little, but it's so racist I can't bring myself to watch it anymore. I hadn't realized as a kid, but one day when I was 17 I decided I'd rent it and watch it again for nostalgia's sake. Hearing the words redskin and squaw thrown around so casually hit me with a numb, heavy feeling. Clearly I'd forgotten about that. J.M. Barrie's original version wasn't nearly so bad, even considering the times it was written in. I just can't accept having so many racist stereotypes about my people thrown around in the name of children's entertainment. neutral

If I ever have kids they're not watching it.

I just like seeing all the children play together, black, white, girls, boys, fat, skinny, petey, porky, froggy, darla, stymie, buckwheat, spanky, alfalfa, butch. I loved the whole gang.

It is was set in 2006, it would just be a bunch of white kids playing play station

No, if it was set in 2006 it would be one white kid, one Asian kid, one black kid, one Latino kid, and a girl in a wheel chair. All the jokes would feel forced and they'd be about something boring like shredded wheat and getting along.

I don't think so, the Disney cartoon is vry offensive. Again it was a product of its time. The new Peter Pan movie with Jeremy Sumpter as Peter has a much better portrayal of Tiger Lily and her friends.
