org recipes! get some started!

A long time ago, we had a thread of recipes..perhaps with all sorts of holidays coming up, those of you who are cooks (we know you are out there) would post recipes of favorite dishes, etc.! Lets share! Make this a sticky!

Excellent idea!

Here's mine for "fake" cheesecake (it's lighter and I think yummier!)

10-12 larger graham crackers
1/4 c. melted butter/margarine
cinnamon/sugar to taste

3 8oz blocks of cream cheese softened
1 12oz tub Cool Whip
3/4 C. powdered sugar

1 or 2 cans of your favorite flavor pie filling -or- use fresh berries


Crush up the graham crackers in the bottom of a 9x12 pan pour melted butter evenly and mush down to make a crust. Sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar.

Beat cream cheese, cool whip, and powdered sugar until smooth. Spread over crust. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1/2 an hour.

Top with filling/topping of your choice smile

I've lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks cutting out the yummies, so forgive me if this thread has the potential to torture the shit outta me.

Chocolate Chip Caramel Nut Bars

Prep: 10 min Cook: 10 min Servings: 16

Ingredients

•1 (18-oz.) package Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
•1/2 cup chopped walnuts
•1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping


Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease 9-inch-square baking pan. PRESS 3/4 package of cookie dough into prepared baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes. SPRINKLE 1/4 cup nuts over cookie crust; drizzle caramel topping over nuts. Top with teaspoonfuls of remaining cookie dough; press gently into caramel topping. Sprinkle with remaining nuts. BAKE for 14 to 18 minutes or until edge is set. Cool in pan on wire rack.

Chocolate Oatmeal Chippers

Prep: 10 min Cook: 9 min Servings: 48

Ingredients

• 1 1/4 cups flour
•1/2 cup Baking Cocoa
•1 teaspoon baking soda
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•1 cup butter or margarine
•1 cup packed brown sugar
•1/2 cup sugar
•1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•2 large eggs
•1 3/4 cups Milk Chocolate Morsels
•1 3/4 cups quick or old-fashioned oats
•1 cup chopped nuts


Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 375° F. COMBINE flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in eggs. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels, oats and nuts. Drop dough by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. BAKE for 9 to 12 minutes or until edges are set but centers are still soft. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
BAR COOKIE VARIATION: PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan. Prepare dough as above. Spread into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack. Makes about 4 dozen bars.

That would be wonderful!

we could do like a tree sorta thing! woot!

it all just depends on how much everyone would be willing to spend (copying + shipping)

BUT... omg

i just had a better idea
whoever is tech savvy can in the end make a Word Document and email it to an orger and keep forwarding n stuff

shrug i just like personal interactions like that...i know we could all just copy and paste them together on our own...but it would be nice to have an actual collection minus the characteristic idle banter usually associated with threads giggle


what do u guys think???

Chocolate Truffle Dessert - 6 Servings

Prep:25 min
Stand:4 hr min

INGREDIENTS
6 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped, or 6 ounces semisweet chocolate pieces
1 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup Irish cream liqueur, Kahlua, Amaretto, or milk
2 large egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 tablespoon sugar
1 - 2 ounces melted white and/or dark chocolate (optional)
2 tablespoon white chocolate shavings (optional)

DIRECTIONS
1. Chill a small mixing bowl and the beaters of an electric mixer. Meanwhile, line an 8x8x2-inch pan with plastic wrap, extending the plastic wrap over the edges of the pan; set aside.
2. In a heavy medium saucepan melt chopped chocolate or chocolate pieces over very low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate begins to melt. Immediately remove from the heat; stir until smooth. Set aside.
3. In the chilled mixing bowl combine whipping cream and 1 tablespoon of the liqueur or milk. Beat with the chilled beaters on low speed until soft peaks form (tips curl). Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours or until needed.
4. In a heavy small saucepan stir together egg yolks, remaining liqueur or milk, and sugar. Cook and stir with a wire whisk over medium-low heat until mixture is very thick (about 8 minutes). Remove from heat; pour mixture into a medium mixing bowl.
5. Add the melted chocolate, 2 tablespoons at a time, to the hot mixture, beating on medium speed until combined (the mixture will be thick). Add 1/2 cup of the whipped cream mixture; beat on low speed until smooth. Gently fold in remaining whipped cream mixture. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan, spreading as necessary to make an even layer. Cover and freeze about 4 hours or until firm enough to cut.
6. Invert the frozen mixture onto a waxed-paper-lined baking sheet. Carefully remove plastic wrap. Using 1-, 2-, and 3-inch cookie cutters, cut shapes from chocolate, dipping cutters into warm water between cuts to prevent sticking, if necessary. Cover and return shapes to freezer until serving time.
7. To serve, drizzle plates with melted white and/or dark chocolate, if desired. Top with chocolate cutouts. If desired, garnish with shaved white chocolate. Store any leftovers, covered, in the freezer. Makes about 6 servings.
Make-Ahead Tip: Tightly wrap and freeze the cutouts up to 1 day ahead.

Death By Chocolate Triffle

*1 boxed chocolate cake mix (or from scratch if you're Martha Stewartesque biggrin ) prepared and cooled
*1 large box chocolate Jell-o pudding mix prepared (see same note as above lol
* 1 12oz tub Cool Whip (you know the drill...)
* 1 bag crushed toffee bits (or if you're ambitious...)

cut cake into cubes and layer in the bottom of triffle dish
spoon 1/2 pudding over cake
spoon 1/2 cool whip over pudding
sprinkle with 1/2 of the toffee bits
repeat layers smile

garnish with a few more tofffee bits and enjoy!
