PP4 - I'm shy too. Sorry we didn't talk more at lunch. I was overwhelmed with the amount of people that showed up. It was such a good time!

Jillybean - SO glad you came out!! Next time we get together, you're SO on the list. Again, I know we didn't talk much but it ws really nice to meet you.

Hobbes - I absolutely love that you crack me up in real life as much as on the org. And you're one styiln' guy.

Mpls kitties (dean and amy included, though you live in St Paul ) - We did it! Yay! How fun!

It's so hard to say what my favorite moments were when they were all SO DAMN GOOD! From EVERYONE at lunch to the hectic reorganization of Saturday night to dancing in the VIP to makin' Sunday brunch to punch drunk giddy crazyness lazing about Darin's living room to those chocolate martini's while listening to DJ Miss Paris to dancing on a box with Muse and Anxy to Frankie Goes to Hollywood to dancing to Peaches w/Anxy and tackam on my second favorite dancefloor in all of Mpls to the sad goodbyes with the out-of-towners where I was glad I was SO freaking exhausted or I'd have been blubbering like a baby through all of them.

Thanks for coming, all. I wouldn't have missed one second for the world.

okay, i've had some sleep and some coffee and even though i really should have followed the endo model and taken today off for recovery purposes, i've yet to take anyone's head off at work and i'm lucid enough to spit out a few more thoughts on the weekend:

the main thing i keep swirling around as i process this year's invasion is that i just don't feel like i have the capacity to express my gratitude and appreciation, not just for the MPLS kitties who put my happy ass up for the weekend and drove me around (those airport rides had to be a pain in the behind), but for everyone i encountered over the weekend.

it's nice to be in a space for a while where i'm constantly surrounded by a huge group of people and there's no funky vibe or negative/aloof/snide bullshittery stinking up the air. i had a freaking phenomenal time from the first moment til the last, and i love every fucking one of you.

even muse.

i give that girl a lot of shit (and i won't give up anytime soon! ), but it has to be said that she's one of the most fabulous people i've ever met, if only because she's one of the few people who can make me laugh until it hurts.

and i've never seen someone who can shop for an outfit as quickly as muse. oh my god. this weekend, we passed a store in calhoun square and muse disappeared for a flash and then reappeared with a new article of clothing. it was freakish. i think she has a mutant power (other than the ability to break glass with her shrill banshee cry).

endo and carrie, you two are like old friends to me these days. i owe you guys bigtime, and i fully expect you and the whole cast of characters to come out to chicago and let me spoil you all rotten for a change. i cannot promise that i can find someone who'll you a lapdance while singing a little river band song, but if we start planning early, i'm sure i can manage something!

melissa - oh my god, girl. i'm so freakin' happy we had a chance to bond. not just the caffeine-crazy airport chat, but the peaches 'shake yer dix' sock hop party! are the fatherfuckers ready for the motherfuckers? all i know is, your ass better be sticking around.

gretchen - you're always so agreeable and mellow during these invasion thingies, just completely relaxed and into soaking it all in. i really admire that, and i'm glad you came out to 1st ave with us on saturday, though i REALLY wish you could have danced with us for a while! probably not good for baby, though i do think it's imperative that we get the little one used to dancing as soon as possible...especially if these invasions keep on happening!

chris - wow, what can i say. you are amazingly cool. this may seem like a weird request after last weekend, but i really want to chat more with you about the spiritual stuff we were discussing during the club crawl saturday night. i'm very happy to have crossed your path (and/or vice versa).

david - if you remember nothing else, i just want you to always keep in mind that when you feel the need to sock it to it, it is CRITICAL that you relax - don't do it - when you want some gum. meanwhile, i just gotta add that i'm really happy you hung out as much as you did over the weekend, and that you've GOT to go dancing with those crazy fools more often.

dansa - yay you! it always feels like i'm at a family reunion when you show up, even when i'm being tormented about my bloodthirsty level of FAMness. (i can't help it if i want to sit alone in the living room watching bootleg prince videos all weekend while everyone else is eating brunch in the next room! isn't that what i'm supposed to DO in minneapolis?!? why can't i have a tamboracca?!?) i still find it insane that you just happened to bump into us after the decemberists, but i'm glad you did.

mr. & mrs. lovemachine - it was good to see you guys again, brief as it was. at least we got to hang out and chat a bit more this time. and that halloween costume idea?

jillybean & paisleypark4 - what's up with this limited appearance stuff? next year you guys have to come dancing! pp4, i'm glad you at least went on the wrecka stow hop (it was great to see you again), but jillybean...you were gone before i even had a chance to talk with you! one of the great things about this invasion was that i got a chance to hang out more with people who i didn't get to talk much with last year. hopefully the trend will continue, and i can get to know both of you better next year.

mashed potato pizza - i know you're food and not a person, but hot damn i miss you. especially the second mashed potato pizza we ordered with the bits of skin. oh my god, you rocked. why didn't i add hot pepper flakes to you? i don't have a lot of regrets, but i really should have added the hot pepper flakes. wow.

jules - what the hell were you doing at the sushi place?! that was the shock of the weekend for me! as always, though - good to see ya.

which reminds me: dj paris kicked my ass. great choices, great mixing. that's the kind of stuff i want to hear when i go out dancing, but rarely do.

oh and dan, that cake you made was just beyond my comprehension to enjoy. it was beyond. i'm going to copy your recipe and make that stuff, and if it's 10% as good as yours, i will be very proud of myself. oh: and nice pictures and captions, famn u!

and i keep forgetting we saw the decemberists and they were brilliant and i think perhaps their album may be my favorite of the year, and now that i've heard '16 military wives' live, it's certainly my favorite song of the year...an absolutely fantastic show, but i can't help but have the memory swallowed up in the vast vortex of fun and coolness i experienced over the rest of the weekend. anyway. decemberists = good. buy their records and go see them live. yes.

ivy - whawhaWHAT?! if you weren't in the pictures, i would easily try to convince myself that your showing up was all in my mind. i'm crazy like that, you know. i hope you had a blast, and i know i'll see ya again soon and you can tell me stories about going to the boobie hatch.

....so, is that everything? not by a long shot. but not a bad start for a guy who's still piecing his remaining brain cells back together.
