IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME, VOLUME V:THE CAPTIVE & THE FUGITIVE. By Marcel Proust.

I started reading this magnum opus one year ago this week, with the brilliant "Swan's Way or Volume I."

What can I say about Proust? Frustrating, Beatific, Brilliant, Life Changing...

Seriously, reading Proust is like Zen Buddhism, or more precisely a session of zazen. He captures, every thought, observation and experience, in excruciating detail, right down to the pollination of a flower. He talks about the perils of love and all the insanity that comes with it. It's actually helped immensely (along with Zen) with dealing with the painful but beautiful melancholy that persists after the end of my relationship.

Don't ask me this question. I'm still reading the same book as in the last 'What are you reading'-thread.

'The confessions of Zeno' by Italo Svevo, great book,

but I don't have time to read.

Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk
It's ok, but I'm only about half through. The format is annoying; present, poem, flashback, present, poem, flashback, present, poem, flashback, present, poem, flashback. But it's really demented and cool. smile

Re-reading "Vampire Junction" and "Valentine" by S.P. Somtow. Not very good, I must've been drugged when I read them the first time. disbelief
