Once a cheater, Always a cheater?? Can you really expect someone who cheats on you, to be faithful. Or is it stupid, wishful thinking? (Insert something clever here)

depends on the situation. I was a cheater, I learned from my mistakes the HARD way. I will never cheat again. Say it's just a dream...

And when I realized that I felt the same way it was way too late. I hurt this person so much, and never thought twice about it. This person stayed with me, but i continued to cheat. When i was ready to change, it was too late. I believe in Karma, and I believe I have felt the wrath of karma very recently. Actually, I am still feeling it... Say it's just a dream...

Forgiving is one thing, but forgetting is clearly the most difficult part. (Insert something clever here)

If a girl cheated on me it would be over. I wouldn't be able to get the picture of her and some other guy out of my head. Our sex life would be ruined.

What's better?
Being with someone who HAS cheated but wouldn't because they respect their other ....or Someone who doesn't cheat because they are not promiscuous?

I cheated, but I didnt consider it as being "premiscuous". I cheated with the same person, over and over. it wasnt numerous people. I put lust over love.....WRONG THING TO DO!!! Say it's just a dream...

My point is it's better to be with someone who respects their partner rather than someone who's too goody-goody ...

Not always.
I wonder if some people are somehow incapable of being faithful and so will always find someone somewhere to cheat with when in a relationship. Then I think there are those who don't really fit the label 'cheater', as far as it being habitual behaviour. Some people cheat once in certain circumstances and it's about the people involved specifically. The whole context is more complicated than one person simply being a 'cheater'. Those, it would appear, are less likely to cheat again, although of course that's terribly speculative and a horrible generalisation. For example, you could have a person who has a one night stand out of lust. There's no emotional attachment and you'd have to wonder whether their inability to control said lust could ever just go away. Then you've someone who is in a relationship, where they consider they love someone, but they carry on a relationship with someone else who they also have feelings for. This may not be so much about uncontrolled lust as being torn by feelings for two people. Of course, with that also comes the fact that it takes a very deceitful, calculating nature to do such a thing long term. In some ways this second scenario is almost more understandable, but it's a deeper, more emotional betrayal. In summary though, I think it's just down to individuals. I don't agree with the thread title, but if someone has cheated once there have to be alarm bells ringing there and appropriate caution from the other person in the relationship.
