It's possible, depends on both parties being neutral & not threatening the friendship w/ their "lets be together" bullshit...

Yes I can be friends.

I don't buy into the theory that men and women can't be friends without secretly wanting to sleep with one another.

Remember when they used to say that if a guy was like rubbing your hand or fingers it meant he wanted to sleep with you?

I have female friends that i have no interest in sleeping with. That's because they are not that attractive looking. And i have some pretty female friends who i who i would hook up with in a second. I think it depends on whether the friend is good looking or not.

Most of my friends are female. It's always been like that. Some of them I've slept with and others not. In some cases, this has affected the friendship, but not always. It depends on the chemistry and personalities in each particular case.

To answer your question though: Yes, you can definitely be friends (in a platonic way) with the opposite sex.

i think casual friends works fine between men and women no matter what the circumstance
and if you are going to be a confidante for a person of the opposite sex then i think that works if you are both single or both in relationships.

it gets complicated when one side is in a relationship because then there will be confusion as to why the committed person is still seeking out the company or advice of this friend instead of his lover. bheart

Really? I've never had that problem. To provide company and advice is one of the things friends are for. The spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend usually understands that. It's a different story if the committed person spends more time with his/her friend of the opposite sex than with the person they're committed to though. I've seen a lot of jealousy arise from that. Maybe that's what you meant by "company"?

Never, unless one is gay. One of the 2 parties is interested in the other.

ALWAYS....PERIOD

Same best friend for years, same soulmate. Not interested in boning him. I would never sacrifice our relationship for 36 hours of continuous hot sex.....wait a minute.....

Yes, you can be friends -- and nothing more -- with the opposite sex. I've been blessed to have 2 very good female friends for more than 14 years.

Can it get weird? Yes, particularly in the relationship's infancy, when both parties are sorting it out. Tension and the like. As a result, there have been times, in one of those relationships, where she and I didn't communicate for a long while.

But, all in all, the answer remains yes.

Of course you can. It all depends on the people involved though. I don't believe that one or both parties is necessarily going to be secretly harbouring desires though.

God -I can't believe this is even still a question. Two hetero people of opposite sexes can't be just friends without anything else going on? How juvenile is that? That's like assuming two gay people can't hang out without wanting to jump each other. rolleyes

Disagree if you wish, but it is true. Its unfortunate, but true. Humans are ruined by their sexual tendencies. In essence, the privates are the root of all evil. Im sure it will make someone sound more enlightened by disagreeing, but they truely cannot be friends. Their are always motives involved.
Sorry

Sorry but me and my best friend have been friends for 22 years. He dates girls, i date guys and neither of us would ruin that by sleeping with each other. Can it be that people of the opposite sex aren't attracted to each other?
