Waiting Rooms

Poor Eric, it turns out there is no vaccine for him. Oh well, waiting rooms...

What's the longest you've had to wait in a waiting room? I remember having gastroenteritis one time when I was working down in London. They gave me a shot of morphine in my ass and then had to examine my piss. Anyway, the sample I gave them took them about 3hrs to examine for some reason. Id been in there since 9pm. I asked this nurse dude why Id been kept so long and apparently I could have gone home hours before. Thanks for telling me! rolleyes

I think the most scared Id been waiting was for my TB jab in school. Some kids' jab marks looked hideous. The six staple warm up jab they give you beforehand gave me the shitters for the main event.

Any waiting room stories?

When I had my head wound when I was 17 (long story, garage door fell on my head) I had to wait quite a while before they'd stitch me up cause I was a minor and came in without my parents. There was blood all down my face, matting my hair and covering my arm. I was in the pediatric waiting room and there were a bunch of little kids in there pointing at me in awe. giggle

lol

I was lifting up the garage door from the inside of the garage and the top 2 wheels of the top section of the door came off the track so when it got up that high it swung down and hit me in the head. It was the most awful pain I've ever felt in my life. I sat down with my eyes closed and my hands covering my head and after a while I heard 'drip...drip...drip...drip...'. I opened my eyes to see blood dripping off my elbow.
It was quite the experience. I was home alone. This was before cell phones were prevalent and my parents were at a picnic. I called a few people till I finally got a hold of someone to come over and look at it for me and they took one look at me and brought me to the hospital. My poor parents got home in the meantime, my car was there, but I wasn't, there was a pool of blood in the garage and blood on the phone. I hadn't thought to leave a note. My poor, poor mother.

I had to wait for an hour and a half when I came in for the results of an HIV test a number of years ago. That was fun. neutral

16 hours in A&E, waiting for a trolley to be made available. Yes, a trolley. Forget beds. That took another 2 days. It was pure torture and I wasn't even sick, it was my wife who was (extremely) ill. How she survived the wait I'll never know.

And you know what, that's not even out of the ordinary, it's a typical, normal waiting time for the Irish health system. A guy bled to death in one our hospitals this week because although all the necessary medical staff and facilities were there to perform the required surgery, they weren't allowed to do it, because the emergency surgery unit had been officially closed (fully stocked and lying idle) by the health service executive. mad Gah, it makes my blood boil. I'll stop now before I really go off on one.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
