I disagree with some of the things David Cross says in his cds (he's had some harsh words for the bible and it's believers), but it's never stopped me from seeing the brilliance in his standup. He's laugh-out-loud great.
The club owner must be really thin-skinned if he feels like he has to retaliate.
Like Bernie Mac says: "it's jokes, people".

Mr. Show is one of the greatest shows of all time.
