Then explain committed gay couples all across this country.

Heterosexuals are not anchored in commitment or the divorce rate wouldn't be so high would it? smile

Ultimately, both are a choice. Entering into and committing yourself to loving one person, no matter what, is a committment. Both are probably very similar situations.

I was actually listening to Savage when he said this today - normally I agree with most of the stuff he says. But, when I heard that, I turned him off. nod

until gay couples are given the initiative to forge meaningful committed partnerships like everyone else, there's no way i can take the argument of "homosexuality = hedonism" seriously.

Exactly. And you cannot point to the lack of commitment as a valid reason for someone's homosexuality when straight society is rife with the lack of committment. Cheating and high divorce rates? Fags aren't the only heathens nod

so seriously, what do you feel when someone you typically admire says something that is way off base to you?

Well, I get a little angry - I normally just kinda shake my head, etc. Like I said, I think he knows what he's talking about most of the time (his cure for America: Borders, Language and Culture is dead on), but sometimes he goes over the top - sometimes you can't really take his stuff too seriously - he's a "shock jock" in sense, but he's actually an extremely smart guy with a lot of good ideas. So, when he comes up with lame ideas, it kind of upsets me, but I can't agree with him on everything, right? (btw: He's been bashing Bush for the last year or so - you might actually enjoy it! smile)

He's a shock jock - I honestly don't think he's a homophobe at all. He definitely pops off at the mouth quite a bit (I've heard Howard Stern make comments about homosexuals that were "worse" than what Savage said today). I listen to him mostly because he's entertaining - he has a really good sense of humor and, as I'm sure he knows, people are always wondering what he's gonna say next.
