Case

a friend of mine just moved to Baltimore and met John while walking down the street. He just smiled, said "Hi, John" and John reciprocated in kind.

I have Trash Trio...can't wait for the new collection of screenplays.

i've met him a few times at book signings - he's very cordial and funny, always "on", but in a very charming way. one time i asked him to autograph a magazine article he'd written and he looked at it quizzically and said, "Did I write this? I think I was on drugs. Was it good?" lol

From the foreword of Bill Maher's New Rules:

The urge to rebel in youth often predates having a reason to do so. But then one day you take a lawn dart in the kidney and suddenly following the rules — at least the rules about lawn darts — doesn’t seem like such a bad idea.

I never did take a lawn dart in the kidney — that’s just an example — but I did wake up one morning after a sleepover at John Waters’s house to find my sleeping bag wasn’t zipped up the same way as when I passed out. We all learn. It’s just a matter of how and when.
lol

Did you ever see Waters' review of Richard Kern's Fingered?:

Fingered is the ultimate date move for psychos. It's the best hillbilly-punk-art-porno movie in the world and I always show it to people very late at night to make them happy.
lol

Recently, my mother called to tell me that she had seen Cry-baby on TV and loved it. I'm starting to worry about her. neutral

He just started hosting a film series on the HERE channel (does anyone get that station?) where he says "it's like having me over to watch movies, only I don't get to touch you." lol

If you get the chance to meet him, jump at it! He was here in the Twin Cities at the U of MN Student Union several years ago promoting his book. I was on the planning committee for the evening, but by the night of the show I was SO sick with the flu I couldn't go! sad I did, however, stop in for a bit afterwards when the group took him out for drinks at Nye's Polonaise (a piano bar and polka lounge in Minneapolis). He shared some really great stories, most of which I missed since I only stayed a while. The best was a recollection of one of the many times he and Divine sat around getting high in their younger years. On this particular occasion, Divine suddenly left the room, returned a few moments with a bed sheet wrapped around her as a makeshift dress and proceeded to lip synch an entire Dionne Warwick record!

MIGUELGOMEZ

I met him many many years ago at a lecture at San Jose State University. I swear, the entire lecture was like a stand up comedy act. His stories, amazing. He signed my Trash Trio and he signed my ex's copy of FEMALE TROUBLES vhs original.

Thanks Anx. I want to see him in San Francisco.

I met John Waters last month. He was standing on line behind me at the Landmark theater on Houston St. (He bought one ticket for 'Keane'.) I told him how much I enjoyed 'A Dirty Shame' and how I laughed from start to finish. He was very nice and reminded me that 'A Dirty Shame' is out now on DVD. confused
