Has anyone ever used a DAP diffuser (Dog Appeasing Pheromone) for their dog?

I got one for my pup you plug it in and it’s supposed to release dog appeasing pheromone the type pups mums release to make them feels safe.

I got one as my pup does not like me leaving him, this only started when he had to be put into hospital. He goes nuts if I leave him, he will bark, cry and become very distressed and when I return he goes crazy in greeting me and will hang around my feet we believe he has separation anxiety and I’m going to stop this before it gets worse.

Now what I can gather is that only Dogs can smell the Pheromones but I think they are telling me lies as I can smell it!! I have had it plugged in for 24 hours now and the blinking thing STINKS. My husband says it’s only a slight smell and keeps going on how I can smell a fart a 100miles off YADA YADA this maybe true LOL but I swear the thing STINKS I can smell it all down stairs yet when I go upstairs I cant smell it. This smell has only appeared since I plugged it in, its sooooo nasty. Now me and my old man keep arguing back and forth:
ME: IT STINKS!
HIM: No it does not.
ME: Yes it does
HIM: Shut up woman


Has anyone used one before does it stink? Does the thing work? Someone settle my argument with him before I throttle him.

I have used it for my 3 dogs when we go out of town and leave them at home. Our neighbor watches them for us. I can smell it when it is plugged in but not a lot. I usually plug it in a few days before we leave to calm my one dog that gets stressed when he sees the suitcases out. I do not know if it works as well as they claim because I am using it in a much bigger area then I should. Maybe that is why I do not notice the smell too much.

Well, if the mom is around the kids as they grow up then they should be around the mom's pheromones.

The DAP releases mommy pheromones to the dogs like they had when they were pups to calm them down.
As you see, I do not know much about kids- I prefer dogs...
I can put them in a crate and leave them unattended.

I have the cat version. Feliway. You can't smell it. Well, maybe YOU can!

It has been a great help for when we moved, and the cat stressed out.
