My wife likes some good stuff, but she also like a whole lot of what I consider to be crap. I just ignore most of it. I love her, even if she likes Kenny G.

give her my greetings. i have Kenny G's CHRISTMAS ALBUM.

disbelief

(it was a gift.)

Ahh, yes. That was inflicted upon me last season. Not as bad as the Celine Christmas album that she also tortured me with, but bad nonetheless.

Everyone I've been involved with has had very similar tastes in music as I do...but there have been enough differences to be interesting. They usually end up introducing me to artists I've never listened to before (or haven't listened to very much), and I try to do the same...that's one of the cool aspects having differences. smile

I met my boyfriend through Prince's music, so we share that. And it's a WHOLE lot of fun, especially since he's a fan of the 90s stuff and I of the 80s. Over the years we've cultured appreciation and even love in each other (e.g. he loves Controversy and 1999 now; I love Gold Experience!) so it's worked out well.

We also share love for funk, but that's where it ends. I love anything poppy, from any of the decades, while he's into jazz, dance/trance, and Prodigy/Rage/etc (disbelief).

We met in the dining hall of our dorm in London. He was wearing a sweatshirt with a fast forward sign on it and I realized it was from housequake.com! So I struck up a conversation with him and it's been going swell ever since.

Sorry to everyone who have heard this story a million times before. giggle

My boyfriend and I met the day Barry White dead. I was sitting at a pub, filling crosswords, and we started a real talk when I told him he died (i was reading too). We were both stonished, and I guess that choc helped for us to talk and be together until now. Barry white became the magic wand of our couple...

I find meeting someone who has in your opinion great taste in music a real turn whether you find them attractive or not.

I would agree.
And I'd go further to say I'm not sure I could seriously date someone who's music taste was polar opposite of my own. Not that it's the only important thing, but I'd run out of first date conversation rather quickly and they'd probably think I was boring. giggle

My boyfriend listens to metal.

and ONLY metal. disbelief Anything where you can actually understand the lyrics being sung doesn't get much play for him. But we're working through it somehow...it helps that even though he doesn't like Prince very much, he bought me tickets to one of his shows last year, and actually went with me! biggrin

I don't even know what she likes anymore. confused That's mainly due to the fact that we hardly get to see each other during the week due to working opposite shifts. sad

She never really did care for Prince, although I did get her to go to a show at Paisley Park one time back in '95. biggrin

She's pretty much all pop and "neosoul."

Her taste is not that insipid by nature. I think it's genuinely because she's just too busy to investigate stuff that isn't on the radio or TV. When I present obscure stuff to her, she usually can get into it.
