My family and I lost everything in New Orleans

Well my peeps went back to their houses last night from last time i was there and everything was lost EVERYTHING!!! Pictures, TVS, and my mama said she sat on porch and cried. I still had stuff there too like trophies, high school picsn clothes are all gone. Military stuff i left there and she said it was lost too. The whole neighbiorhood that beautiful neighborhood 1 of the only good ones in the city totally destroyed, gone, and will be demolished. Some neighbors drowned who didn't leave. Also my real dad died also confirmed officially last night.

Not only that I lost my love of my life and he's gone because of my stupid @ss. I smoke cigarettes now. HELP!!!!!

How do you mean "lost"? Was it all water damaged? Was it swept away with the current? Or were these items stolen? Maybe there's a chance to get some of it back, at least. And if you still have the negatives for the pictures (or even the paper copies), it doesn't matter if they're damaged; you could still get them restored at a lab.

Sorry to hear about all this. Neigbours drowned... disbelief

Gone. He seeing some fat head bag smasher who builds himself up and not nothing. I went out to club and everyone said i was sexy, a hunk, and wanted to go home with me that night. I couldn't cause i am still too heartbroken over my stupid mistakes i made a year and 7 months ago.

I'm sorry, but I'm having a bit of trouble deciphering this sentence. smile

From what I understand, the items weren't lost. They were only water damaged. And your mom and stepdad were yelling at you because...you left these things in the house when the storm hit? Something like that?

Like I said, maybe some items can still be salvaged if they are only water damaged. Your trophies for example. Were they really destroyed by water beyond repair? And the pictures should be okay. What else? Clothes? If they weren't in there for too long and started rotting they should be okay too.

And I'm assuming you had insurance?

Ok, these items were lost, can't fix, damaged, house has to be totaled, demolish, clothes and all ruin, nothing saved in there. There were distressed sad and were telling me over the phone last night. I live in Minneapolis and New Orleans. Most of the time in minneapolis cause i work here and stuff. Yes the yhave insurance but not flood though. No one does. Everything lost?

Nothing no one can do. Nothing but thanx though. My worst year ever!!! It just get worse and worse and day and week that passes by. Next i'll probably be fired from my job here, or death. Bring my baby boy back at least casue i need a shoulder to lean on right now. When u by yourself and get hit hard every week wih something is not healthy or good. I haven't ate for a week but did recently, i don't sleep in the bed anymore cause he gone, i don't do anything. I am afraid to answer phone cause it will be more bad news.

It must be dreadful to be living through this - I'm truly sorry Saint.

You seem to be blaming yourself for what happened but nobody could've predicted how it would've affected New Orleans. I hope you are able to get support in some way to help you through.

i take it you weren't close to your biological father then? rose

listen saint... yes, it's been shitty. but it could be worse.
you said yourself that some of your neighbors lost their lives.

your mother and stepfather are safe
your brother's family is ok
they all have a roof over their heads
you have a roof over your head - and a job

there are many people from that city who are not so fortunate
i know it's easy for me to say sitting in my house with my things
yes, it is sad that the house is gone- i would be upset too
but you need to keep it in perspective.
all that really matters when it comes down to it - is our health and well being

your family will recover
you and your broken heart will recover
in the mean time don't kill yourself with cigarettes!!! hug
