I am pretty upset right now so bear with me. On September 17th I woke up and my right arm wrist and hand was swollen up pretty big. It went down but i developed this lump in my right wrist on the left side. Well I went to the Dr. yesterday and I was expected them to draw fluid from it since that is what I assumed it was.

Well it is a mass or tumor of some sort hooked into the nerves, blood vessels and the bone. I was scared shitless when the Dr. said surgery will be needed immediately since this mass is into your blood vessels and it could possibly be a form of cancer as well, but they wont know that unitl the surgery and it will be sent to the lab. Also had 2 other Dr. opinions as well as the MRI that took as hour.

The Dr. wanted to do the surgery this Thrusday October the 6th but I told him no. I have a surgery date of October 21st now but my mind is reeling!!!!! There is a great possiblity of paralisis or numbness from severing a nerve if that happens. I told my Grandmother as I am her cargiver and she can't beleive it!!! The tumor looks like the size of a golf ball. At this point I can't even think straight!!! I am in shock, angry, sad and scared all at the same time, this is so unexpected!!! Okay finished venting now, will let you guys now how things turn out, I have talked to my supervisor at work and she is very understanding and will hold my job for me but that is the least of my worries.

Plus we got new insurance at work called CHA and I will have medical bills totaling I dont know how much yet!!!!! It is crap I tell you!!!!

Get the surgery ASAP. Never mind the medical bills, your health especially your life is important.

Does the hospital have a counsellor that you can talk to?

Try not to worry too much, doctors do wonderful things these days and you are lucky they caught it so early.. Best of Luck and you know you have your friends around you

I understand your wanting to put the surgery off until you can get life in order. BUT make sure you take care of yourself first!!!!!


my sister had a similar tumor--an ganglion or something like that, she had it removed, no ill affects

Rachel don't you put off that surgery again! Drew (my husband) just had a tumor the size of a golf ball removed from his head so I know where you're coming from. You'll be fine, I know it!

I recieved news of possible surgery as well. Not sure if I'm looking forward to my appt on the 14th or not....I'm nervous...that's for sure.
